We did enjoying tasting the 4 types of kuih.
I felt that the food had improved in both taste and selections. Their Hainanese chicken chop, sambal chicken chop, pohpiah in laksa soup and chicken curry are much enhanced since December 2018
This is totally not bias, you’ll get the same experience if you’re interested, Kuih Culture is more than willing to share everything with you.
多次重返这家 Thai Shop,这里的食物在味道上的变化不大,依然保持其水准。
The vendor brings cuisine from Thailand, all prepared with authentic taste using traditional ingredients.
这里的 Cha Yen 的味道我可说相当满意,茶味也够浓郁,若可以再甜一点,那简直就完美。
Duck Kway Chap is a rolled noodle sheets and then chopped into smaller pieces, served with an aromatic pork stew broth (and in this case duck as well), topped with pork intestines, pork meat, pork ears, duck meat, cilantro and some deep-fried garlic oil. It is a hearty bowl of goodness and if you're in Penang, definitely do not miss this Duck Kway Chap, come and check it out for yourself. Hands down, Duck Kway Chap is a must try street food in George Town, Penang.
The last course, also the tummy-filler was Old House's signature Prawn Noodles... almost like a concentrated Hokkien Mee, the broth packed a powerful punch... with bold flavors of the crustacean and plentiful of Pork Lards.
On a dinner visit, the dishes for two pax range from a roasted meat platter to fried fish, stir-fried greens with sambal, along with a fishball seaweed soup. I really enjoyed the crisp exterior of the fish and its taste intensified by the savory soya sauce.
Looking forward for its braised chicken feet and braised pig stomach which only offers in the weekends.
The Koay Teow Soup was good but not great. Soup is lightly scented but as we consumed it, the taste started to build up. It was scantly topped with slices of duck meats that hardly justify its higher price tags. If you prefer a bolder taste, add some pepper, soy sauce and chili to spice it up. Probably this is one of the most expensive hawker Koay Teow Soup we ever had in Penang.
This round the style and the people in the video will be much different, it will be more natural and interview with shop owners.
The kway teow noodles were quite greasy with lard (which is good) and had a nice but mild quite flat savouriness (personally, I always prefer noodles to have more robust, quite intense, layered flavours).
The specialties of this place are Fried Fish with Fish Saucewhicht is displayed in an impressive layout. The taste of Beef Steak Bahn My here is also very astonishing where the tenderness of the meat is soft while the pate is also very rich and creamy. Not to forget the Vietnamese Desserts here are also very unique and addictive
Prices here are quite reasonable at I think rm$3++ to $4++.
The dessert here is tasty, i particularly like their Herb Jelly with Blancmange where the Jelly is tasty and i also like their Black Sticky Rice Dessert
Eat Simple, is one of the few shops in Penang that serve lobster porridge and cod fish porridge. The large bowl with a generous portion of cod fish porridge is selling at just RM20, very reasonable and worth the money. Serving delicious porridge and noodles for 60 years and 4th generation, Simple Eat was previously from Perak Lane and now is located at Lebuh Kimberley, Georgetown. Emphasizing the detailing and ingredients used, the boss takes 8 hours to boil the broth base and serves fresh dishes always.
The Kor Teh is the drink that cornerstones the menu of the outlet. Boiled with many different types of Chinese herbs the black bitter drink helps cool down the body, and helps in relieving one from sore throat. One can savor the hot herbal drink on its own or taken with specially made powder medicine.
We are equally impressed with the Dumplings (RM 6 for 3 pieces too). It is humongous in size and come with generous filling. The chef also delicately shove in a significant quantity of Chinese water chestnut that give the dumpling an unique and pleasant texture.
Loy Kee's Wan Ton Mee was springy but the winning factor was the expertly mixed sauce. It has the quintessential Soy sauce fragrance with a sleek sweetness. With a little lard, the combo was most delicious
A dish not to be missed by Chocolate lovers. The dessert plate gathered everything chocolaty... starting from the nutty Chocolate Brownie and creamy Mascarpone.... to Chocolate Ice Cream and Shards. The combination was multi-dimensional and it did not feel too "heavy" despite of the creamy-chocolaty elements around. Hands-down, one of the best Chocolate creations I've ever had.
Unagi with rice – RM10. This can be one of the most reasonably-priced Unagi Don in Penang. The portion enough is just right for this price. The taste of the sauce blended with the unagi very well. This dish is a highly recommended dish here..
The description of the Lady in Red suggests it comes with cheesecake, macaron and fresh rose but the reality is a total surprise. The dish is presented with table-side liquid nitrogen rose. The process starts with dipping the rose in the liquid nitrogen. With a clap on the frozen rose, it’s raining brittle rose petals🌹.
Believe me, the process is far more interesting than how I’ve described it to be. You have to see it with your own eyes, we don’t want to spoil the surprise for you!
Curry Mee (otherwise known as Curry Laksa in central region) has always been one of Penangites' favorite local delicacies but the newly opened eatery along Kimberley Street offers the noodles with an upgrade. While the classic bowl of Curry Mee costs Rm 5 here, the deep pockets could go for the premium option with plenty of Seafood and Meat topped, at the price of Rm 11.50. The entire shop is dedicated to serving Curry Mee and has been drawing great attention from early risers and market-goers (right in front of the entrance to Chowrasta Market- Kimberley Street entrance). Curry Mee enthusiasts might welcome the idea but we'd like to think otherwise, perhaps a bowl of delicious-classic Curry Mee is good enough for us.
For mains, we had Asian Spicy Chicken Chop and Carbonara with Salmon Fillet, the former dish was basically fried Chicken Chop topped with a creamy sauce that has a hint of spiciness. It was served with mashed Potatoes and some fresh greens. The sauce was quite unique but the concoction felt a little too greasy to our liking. The Chicken could be juicier as well.
For a start, we had the Rojak Cucur Platter... with stuffed Fried Tofu and Cucur Udang, served with Rojak sauce and sweet Chili sauce. Both were equally delicious; the texture was amazing and the dips were spot on.
还有还有,咖哩白斩鸡,姜蓉白斩鸡,和梅菜扣肉也是来到这里不容错过的选择。
