With Tanglin Halt undergoing the Selective En Block Redevelopment Scheme, our laksa hawker might just retire when the time comes for the market to be demolished!
For me, this is a rather disappointing bowl of laksa hence I am bewildered by its popularity.
i like weiyi laksa 唯一辣沙 particularly because it is lemak but not very lemak (& sweet) like katong laksa.
This was really an iconic stall here, which has been here like forever. Although the prata wasn’t freshly made, and looked like it had been lying there for a while (up to lunchtime), there was a very nice fragrance to the dough and good chewiness, which was really apparent in the plain prata. Not bad.
I get their prata and wouldn't mind coming back for that. Pretty sure there are more flavourful briyani that can be easily found.
I like their egg prata.
MARCH 4, 2020 A familiar taste of Aw’s Signature Minced Pork Noodles at The Milky Way. So they have taken over here. Although I was led here by Tan Hsueh Yun of The Straits Times’ Food …
The queue is the longest during dinner time but fret not, because orders are done quite quickly.
Pretty impressed with Shen Ji Chicken Rice
Unlike other Teochew braised duck noodle stalls that offer only bee hoon, yellow noodle and kway teow, this stall also have mee kia and mee pok.
There is certainly something for everyone here! Deng is already more than 70 years old, and his children are not interested in taking over the 2nd-generation hawker stall.
Got a plate of nasi lemak. With fried fish, fried egg, bergedil, some paru and abit of serunding beside their sambal.
If you want to eat the Nasi Lemak here, you should come before 10am so that there is still a wide range of choices.
The bowl of noodles soup is stomach-filling and comforting. I would not mind going back again for more.
If I had to describe it with just one word, it would be 'satisfying'.

maybe should have ordered roast chicken usually the roast flavour is better
The only disappointment was the Sliced Beef with Spicy Sauce & Dried Shrimp ($24). The seasoning was on point, a layered heat of dried chillis, dried shrimp, fried garlic, and curry leaves, but the beef was the culprit. It lacked heft and freshness, so while the beef was meltingly fatty, the heady spice failed to mask its inferior quality.
Bitter gourd in the omelette are in slightly thicker strips rather than thin sliced. It's okay.
I thought this was a good cheeseburger this time round, moist and smoky, with the sourness of the pickles and the slightly tart sauce coming through. Satisfying.

Fried chicken had a nice crisp turmeric batter that sealed in the juices in the meat.
Checking out New Lucky Claypot Rice 新鸿运瓦煲饭which was listed in the Michelin guide. The chicken claypot rice was cooked to order, thus there was a long wait.
New Lucky Claypot Rice at Holland Village serves a mean claypot, but avoid the soups.
The dining frenzy passed quickly and everything quietened down around 8pm when the wave of customers finished their dinner.
243 Holland Avenue, Singapore 278977, open Mon to Sun 11am to 2:30pm, 5:30 to 9:30pm
Their grilled fishes were quite nicely done and there's a kaisen chahan that was unexpectedly peppery. The latter wasn't a bad thing.
Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice, one of the top chicken rice stalls from the Hawkers.
The rice was I thought the gold standard of chicken rice – moist, oily, flavourful and fragrant with chicken stock and oil, garlic, onions and lemongrass etc.
Sin Kee is a well-known name among chicken rice stalls in Singapore, mainly serving poached chicken rice Cantonese-style.
Oh I tried their Mocha too. Coffee is not bad.
