Special 4 Cuts
It is said that about 60 years ago in Japan, the current style of charcoal grilling beef began. In the 60 years since then, various restaurants have worked hard, continuing to study improvements in breeding cattle, selecting suitable meat for grilling, aging methods, slicing perfect cuts, creating sauces and seasonings that pair well with beef and so on.
We also have a flagship store in Nihonbashi, Tokyo where we constantly strive to improve on a daily basis to provide delicious grilled beef at a reasonable price. We wanted Malaysians as well as Japanese people living in Kuala Lumpur to be able to enjoy the same style of charcoal grilled beef that we offer in Japan, therefore we have opened this location here in Kuala Lumpur. For our Japanese customers, we are aiming to achieve a level of quality that they will never have to say, “When I return to Japan, I want to eat delicious charcoal grilled beef” because they will have it right here in Kuala Lumpur.

Shin Nihon, Desa Sri Hartamas, KL: Japanese Charcoal Grilled BeefIf you've never tried beef tongue before, I urge you to do so here at Shin Nihon. We were well-impressed with the atsugiri tan (RM35), also known as salted thick cut tongue. It is one of the most popular items here and it's easy to see why. Even in its raw form, the sight of the beautiful marbling is enough to make us drool. The staff will season it with salt and then grill it on the charcoal grill in front of you. The beef tongue used here is Wagyu, so the meat has a slight bite then gives way to a melt-in-the-mouth texture. So so good!
Shin Nihon Japanese Restaurant @ Sri Hartamas KL - My Love For Yakiniku.To start things off, I had the Thick Cut Tongue (RM35.00). It took a quick 3-minutes to grill, and let me tell you this - the two chunks of tongue were amazing. It had great textures that was fatty yet flavorsome. I'd highly recommend ordering this here.
Shin Nihon 新日本焼肉党Likes: Good quality beef - a bit pricey but rest assured it's quality they serve. They have a good range of low and high end choices....
Dislikes: Nothing at the moment...
Shin Nihon Yakiniku & Japanese Restaurant @ Desa Sri HartamasWith everything considered, the only let down in our meal was the beef bone ramen. And although the Special 4 Cuts did not impress, I do not wish to pass a blanket judgement on the other more premium platters until I have actually tried them.
I am positive we will return, but probably for weekend lunch only when they have better deals. If you are planning a meal here, I have attached their ala carte menu in the following gallery for your budget consideration.
