Nestled within the vibrant culinary scene of Penang, Golden Prawn Hokkien Mee stands as a renowned stall at H & M Cafe, captivating locals and tourists alike with its sumptuous offerings.
Kedai Kopi Siang Tatt 祥达咖啡室 is one of the coffee shops located just next to the bustle of the early morning market at Sungai Ara. This coffee shop is serving breakfast and finishes as early as 11:30 am. The lor mee (braised noodles) that is sold at this shop is one of the well-established brands that have been selling for more than 25 years for 2 generations. The taste of the flavorful starch and the aromatic of the five spices are very nice and yummy. The chicken feet are so well marinated and the texture is bouncy and juicy. This is the stall to visit for those who love braised chicken feet.
街角糖水小站 Jie Jiao used to sell desserts and also nasi lemak at Perak Road, is now moved to He Fa Cafe 和发咖啡室 at Sungai Ara, now Jie Jiao is concentrating on selling nasi lemak only. Serving with nostalgic flavor and insisting on the freshness of the food, this is the principle of Jie Jiao prepreparing the food. Besides this new stall in He Fa Cafe, the rest of the stalls like Roast flavor, Asian fried, and surprise noodles (every day different noodles need to check out the signboard on the wall) are also available here.
Overall, the food here is average nothing bad to complain nothing spectacular to shout about but their serving portion is big. Service is good and food serving is fast too. Having a morning walk all the way here to Emperor Villa is nice, after a good morning exercise it is also nice to have some light food and a cup of drinks here at Emperor Villa.
We were pretty shocked to find the Char Bee Hoon being priced at Rm 15 per portion but we were soon being convinced over the superior quality. Unlike the economy Char Bee Hoon, Emperor Villa cooks their Vermicelli Noodles as per order. We had it twice and both experiences were positive- full of Wok Hei and reasonably seasoned (with some Pork Lards in it). The texture was lovely, good on its own but even better with the addition of their home-made Sambal for the extra Chili kick
Steamed Red Snapper with Cantonese Style The red snapper was fresh and it blended well with the top grade soy sauce that made this dish simply excellent.
品尝了他们家的几道菜肴后真心觉得还不错,尤其是对印尼虾这道美食特别钟爱,价钱方面也还蛮大众化。
Both Dried Char Hor Fun (RM 5.50) and Singapore Bee Hoon (RM 5.50) we had were delicious. The dried hor fun was fried to silky smooth with aroma infused by the egg, even though it was a tad greasy. On the other hand, the Singapore Bee Hoon has nice aroma with decently quantity of trapped moisture that give an overall nice taste.
We enjoyed the way how the Maggi was fried - slightly wet and fried with egg, nice seasoning and topped with a round egg, which egg yolks ooze upon probing it. To our surprise, the fried maggi noodle also served along with a few slices of fried fish fillets.
Here's the location.
