We had to restrained ourselves from immediately diving into the Kyushu Wagyu Rib Loin (200g RM268 & 300g RM378) at sight. Drool-worthy at first glance, this Japanese premium wagyu screamed flavour. In fact, the meat tasted buttery and much umami notes of pleasure. So tender from all the marbling, this piece of wagyu is lusciousness in every bite. Price is on the premium side but once you’ve had a taste of this wagyu, you actually might find this worth indulging for…

So, this BEAUTEOUS piece of meat, the Tomahawk, sells for about RM400 for a 1.2-1.3kg slab. This one served to us, which can feed six people more than adequately, is around 1.6kg. Charred to perfection in a Josper Oven, (from Spain), this weapon of choice is superb.

The sandwiches were delicious. You can choose your spice level – mild, normal or spicy. I opted for spicy. Part of it was the heat and the other part was pure spices, a burst of flavors. The sandwich filling was generous. The grilled pork was tender and juicy. Biting into it was divine. There was spinach, purple cabbage, purple radish, onions …. it was yummy!

My favorite dish here at Joloko was the Caribbean goat curry (RM35), which is available from Fridays to Sundays only. Insanely good, this Haitian-based dish is made using tomatoes, garlic, potato, chillies and onions and cooked until the meat is tender and the curry is thick. The sauce is so flavorful, with heat from the chillies which got our tastebuds tingling with joy.

Pisco Bar Restaurant

29 Jalan Mesui Bukit Bintang 50200 Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

By visiting Pisco Bar you will be able to taste today what the rest of the world will be eating tomorrow. Today, Peruvian cuisine has two main icons in the world. The first one is certainly Cebiche. The second, which you may already know, is undoubtedly Pisco Sour. But what is new about Pisco Bar, though, is the approach to Peruvian cuisine, as it recognizes its influences and proposes a significant variety of some of the most succulent Spanish tapas. Peruvian cuisine has been praised by the Spanish superstar Ferran Adrià and is quickly finding its rightful place in the world food scene. Peruvian cuisine, as with Malaysian food, is a unique blend of indigenous and colonial cookery traditions. With influences from Andean to Spanish, Japanese and Chinese to African and Italian.

Best Haus’ Pork Ribs, 36.80 ringgit. The pork ribs was da bomb! Not much effort was needed to separate the meat from the bones because it literally falls of it with ease. It was sweet, succulent, tender, chewy all in one. It tasted awesome, real good that the plate was empty within minutes. I only wish that they gave me a bigger pieces because it was not nearly enough, lol. Moreeeee, I need moreeeeee! The salad on the side was refreshing. Plenty of green, tomatoes and a fruit – I cant remember what it is referred as but I do not come across many eateries that serves their greens with this particular fruit – it however works, it provided that ‘kick’, a lil sweet and a lil bitterness to it.

For the past couple of days, I have been having cravings for Don (short for donburi - a Japanese rice bowl dish). Hence I decided to drop by Five-HT, a Japanese Fusion restaurant, for dinner. One of the reasons why I enjoy fusion food so much is because the amalgamation of flavors and textures, never ceased to surprise me. Malas- supposedly spelled as Malaysian Tapas but makes a lousy portmanteau when named Malas. If it isn’t obvious enough that it actually meant lazy in bahasa, well then one could easily identify that and see it in their operating staffs because they are definitely living up to the name of this place for sure. The service crew seriously need a massive encouragement (when we are the only customer) to get them paying more attention to the customers; let alone requesting them to walk over to our table. Dainty choices are there on the menu to spoilt the customers but if Malas were to be judged solely on this alone, it would be a breakthrough for local flavour for sure. Though very unfortunately, the rest of the dining experience left it a few pegs short.

Chicken Vindaloo with Rice, 12.90 ringgit. This was yummmm! Different but yummy. What you’d get on the plate is rice + half a thigh with gravy + papadum + cucumber. I loved the chicken and the gravy, loved it a lot that I had to request for extra gravy, lol. Yea, I am one of those who enjoys the ‘banjir’ effect, making sure every bit of rice has gravy on it. Good stuff, yawww. The, there were the papadums. Let me tell you, the crackers that accompanied the noodles were bad enough, now this, the papadums, was worst. I just do not get it – if it is soo bad, why put it on the plate? It had no crunchiness whatsoever, it felt a lil bit like how it was suppose to be prior to getting fried. Now this, I had to request for replacement because I love them papadums, which they did. The new ones were as they should be, crunchy. So yea, minus the papadum blunder, the rest of the dish was yummy. Loved it.

I simply ordered the set lunch fish sandwich at MYR 16.50++ (MYR 19.14 nett) which includes soup of the day and ice cream. Soup of the day is mushroom soup and plain drinking water is provided foc. I was told that it was tilapia when I asked but I couldn't tell what fish it is. Anyway, all I can say is that I wouldn't order this again because I am trying to eat less deep fried food.
