Our most favourite dish here in A • Toast is their Milky White Toast (RM8.90). Not only the dish was visually appealing, we loved the combination of fluffy white bread and grilled chicken. There was a good zestfulness and kick from the chicken. Overall, the entire dish was very flavourful and delicious.

Many come here for their signature Polo Bun (RM 3.20), which is freshly baked by the owner. Although it looks appealing with its golden and crumbly crust, it lacks both the crisp texture and buttery scent which we were looking for. Its saviour actually came from the cheese slices and turkey ham, which we added at RM 1 and RM 1.50 respectively.

This is yet the best White Curry Noodle I have had in Penang, noodle was perfectly cooked with tasty soup "white color" (optional addition of extra chili), the bowl comes with Sotong slices, Fresh cockels as well as QQ Duck blood (instead of Pork blood). Another dish, the 白斩鸡 Deboned Boiled Chicken with Soy Sauce is definitely a must try, one of the best 滑鸡 I have ever tried.

我超爱辣椒酱带出来香料美味，可是这次我下手太重，放了3汤匙辣椒酱，结果辣到自己。本来放2汤匙的时候，我们两人觉得不够辣，再多一汤匙下去就过多了，辣椒酱上的香料很多，所以吃的时候可以感受到香料香味扑鼻，只要不要太过辣，你就会享受到白咖喱面的美味。这是有别于一般“咖喱面”的吃法白咖喱面。如果你爱上辣椒酱的话，你也可以买一罐回去。

Hola! The transformation is done and there comes a reddish colour of curry mee. It emits a strong essence of curry taste and a pleasant aroma, with the spiciness level can be adjusted depending on the amount of chilli paste you have added. Beware though as too much of the chilli paste may cause choking as it is real spciy! That is why they named it Hot Bowl!

The words usually synonymous with soufflé pancakes are airy, bouncy and fluffy … and the ones here certainly embodied that. It was a nice aesthetically pleasing ‘blob’ on a plate, lol. The pancake comes with Pu’er gelato, which I was told is tea flavored and muesli crumble + vanilla syrup. The combination was lovely. I like tea flavored ice cream and gelato and so, it was no surprise that I enjoyed this one. It was thick, milky and not to sweet.

Baked eggs with Chorizo at MYR 26+ (MYR 28.60 nett). My friend loves this dish as it is very flavourful. I like the fact that it has a lot of capsicums on it. I think I will be too full if I finish eating this dish.

You simply got to try the Strawberry Daifuku. Freshly made by hand, it is probably the coolest mochi, with soft and chewy texture made with glutinous rice flour. A filling of sweet red bean paste and a whole fresh strawberry gave the dessert a depth of sweetness and fruity acidity.

The Bihun Siam was tasty too. It had plenty of flavor and was rather large in portion size. There were about six to seven small prawns + egg + vegetables. I bought this pack of nasi lemak (RM3.50)…to try but like the one I had the other day, it was not lemak (rich in santan/coconut milk) at all and despite the tint of green, I could not detect the hint of pandan in the rice. The sambal was nice, though not spicy at all, and there was a salted fish…in place of the regular fried ikan bilis (dried anchovies) and together with the (albeit overcooked) egg, it was all right, just that you would not catch me buying that a second time.

I was delighted to see that they had this black glutinous rice (pulut hitam) served with rich and creamy santan (coconut milk) dessert (RM5.00)…They had the santan in circles and they probably ran a toothpick across the lines to make a floral design but it did not matter – after all, the test of the pudding is in the eating and I must say, it…was really very nice and I enjoyed it to the max.

The Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato Soup was delicious. The Tomato Soup was awesome. I love the texture – it was soupy but not too watery. Does that make sense? It was flavorful.There were plenty of bits and pieces of tomato in it with a good dose of black pepper to provide that extra kick. I usually am not a fan of tomato soup but I do like the one served here. The Grilled Cheese Sandwich came in two crispy, buttery pieces of sourdough bread. Most of the grilled cheese sandwich I’ve had elsewhere usually comes with mozarella cheese, not here though. I can’t really say which specific cheese was used here because honestly, I wasn’t paying attention, was too busy enjoying my sandwich. Yum!

Although I have been a frequent visitor to Melaka, Roti Canai Kayu Arang was completely new to me. In fact, I have never heard of it until last month. If there’s anything you need to know before coming here, is that this eatery is extremely crowded in the weekends, especially during long stretch of holidays. The wait for a simple roti canai could take up to an hour or more. So if you are not the patient type, you may want to skip this as not to ruin your day.
