Although the crust looked a little pale, the savory pies are greatly enjoyed by the young and elderly. The colonial pork pie and the curry chicken pie with a little bit of spicy heat are popular choices.
The noodle dish has the quintessential flavor, as well as heaps of ingredients like Shrimps, Vege, Pork and loads of Deep Fried Pork Lard. Together with Sambal, the dish was tummy-filling and satisfying at the same time. Not that it was outstanding but more than decent enough for a usual lunch fix.
We decided to go for the classic Cantonese dish - Char Hor Fun (RM 7.90) after saw it is being put as one of the recommended dish. It was a good choice indeed. The Char Hor Fun comes with a decent wok scent along with an aromatic egg in the starchy gravy. If we were to give a rating, it would be one of the above average taste Char Hor Fun we tasted in Penang.
The Christmas Eve Buffet at Cititel Hotel Penang is priced at RM 118 nett (adult) and RM 59 nett (child).
Besides à la carte dishes, Main Street Cafe also serves buffet lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Seafood and Japanese cuisine are the theme on Friday, while seafood and roasts take the center stage on Saturday.
[Pork-free] EMILY means Every Minute I Love You! We had a lovely time at Emily Darling Café in Penang.
Here's the location.
The Toast however, was light and fluffy but we thought the accompanying dips were slightly off the track
I order what is call as their Savory Soulmate set meal, which is recommended for two person but i can finish it by myself.
All in all, Dear Dino Cafe is a must-visit place in Penang if you’re looking for a chill cafe to bask in their laidback ambience.
We had a Ballin' On A Budget (RM 18), a steamed potatoes stuffed with broccoli, corn, ham and melted cheese topped with sour cream onion. It is freshly made upon ordered, considering we waited for about 20 minutes before the food arrives. The potato served was soft but we thought it could be made slightly mushier for a better overall texture. Seasoning could be improved as well as the potatoes tasted a little bold. The overall dish make senses when you have the potatoes together with the ham and sour cream onion, otherwise it tasted odd when individual elements are consumed separately. The cheese used, which we supposed to be raclette did not impress as it ended up as a separate layer on top of the potatoes
We picked Let's Avocuddle.... Ham, Lettuce, Tomato served over Avocado-spread Toasts. It tasted as straight forward as it was... pretty bland and nothing out of the ordinary. A relief that the Toasts were not too dry
More choices for meat-free eaters, Art Nature Cafe, a long established vegetarian cafe from Alor Setar (Kedah) has recently opened up a new branch here in Penang's ICT Mall, KOMTAR. It offers the same menu as the main branch, it has a variety of local vegetarian food with a creative twist. Notable highlights include Assam Lemak Laksa, Tofu with Cheese and Egg, Oyster Mushroom Porridge etc. Apart from being part of the meat-free community, the cafe occasionally hosts photography-related events. The cafe is located right next to the main KOMTAR bus terminal so it tends to be a little noisy but if you are someone who enjoys watching the busy scenes where bus riders hop on and off the buses, this is definitely the place you are looking for.
