Kings Cart Joo Chiat is the place to go if you are tired of the usual espresso, cappuccino and pour-over coffees. How about Sng Buey coffee, Salted Caramel and Coconut Affogato for a change?
Well, they are new and I look forward to see them grow further into a better café with positive vision.
Food at King's Cart Coffee Factory is modern European, with a dash of local Singaporean influence. While the menu is rather small, dishes are hearty and tasty, with straightfoward but pleasing flavour combinations.
CMCR JC is a great addition to the Joo Chiat enclave and hopefully, it will create more buzz in the neighbourhood. I am happy to drop by for coffee or pancakes any time.
Common Man Coffee Roasters is not new to Singapore, having operated out of it’s flagship store at Martin Rd since 2013. Eight years later, you’ll find them brewing at Stanley St— and as of June 2021, their third branch has just sprouted up at Joo Chiat Rd.

Prairie by Craftsmen is one of the many new cafes in the Joo Chiat area. I am not much of a cafe person, but I wanted to try, and went for a work meeting.
Prairie By Craftsmen Cafe in Joo Chiat opens early and is a nice place for breakfast/brunch with good coffee to kick start your day.
If you are looking for variety, popping in for a meal would be a good chance. There are other similar Japanese-style cafes nearby ( Hello Arigato and Cafe Natsu), so you are spoilt for choice.
ToMO cafe in Joo Chiat has creative beverage concoctions and brunch fare that is on point - good for those lazy catch-ups with friends.
Delicate tasting Imo-Mochi (Potato Mochi, Soy Glaze) and Yuzu and Lime Meringue Pie, in a nicely furnished cafe space.
Nice space, but the latte was a bit too milky, although the acidic flavour of the coffee did come out after the coffee had cooled down a bit.
Choice Cuts, a quaint vinyl record shop and cafe in Joo Chiat, has moved to its new premises across the road. It is now more like a cafe that also sells records.
The pretty cake was gently and flowery sweet, very delicate and layered, with many different textures, from the fruity guava and elderflower mousse encasing three different layers – diced fresh pears, pink guava jelly and a buttery and crumbly cookie base. The latte was so so though, very milky.
Tigerlily Patisserie is a great addition to Joo Chiat, which joins the ranks of popular establishments like Da Dong Prawn Noodles and Petit Pain. Expect to pay higher than average prices for tarts, crazy queues and one aspect which could be better, the service.
Tigerlily Patisserie cafe in Joo Chiat is a great option for breakfast & brunch; and for beautifully crafted sweet & savoury pastries.
Nice pretty cafe. The beef was lightly fried, tender and juicy while retaining a good bite, and having a good beefy flavour, complemented with the caramelly sweet flavour of the onion jam, and the creaminess and slight tartness of the mayo. Good piece of striploin and sando. The coffee was woody and chocolatey, with a slight burnt flavour, which was great for a latte.
Brunch is a nice relaxing way to begin a weekend day. We started one Saturday morning at Little Farms. The Pancakes were light and made a little differently than I am used to.
Salt & Palm adds a different diversity to the mix of cafes and restaurants in Joo Chiat right now. I like that it is a twist to traditional Indonesian cuisine, though the main drawback for me is that the prices are relatively steep. It would also be great if a weekend brunch menu could be launched at some point.
LUNA Joo Chiat is a dessert café with a cozy and inviting atmosphere, comfortable seating and ample space for patrons to spread out and enjoy their desserts. Savoury food is limited but pretty sweet treats are aplenty.
While marketed as a breakfast and lunch venue, this cafe would be a dinner option on Joo Chiat Road. The price point would make it tricky for an everyday meal, but for special occasions, we can always make an exception.
I hear that sometimes magic tricks may be performed around the magic island table. Perhaps when the cafe is not busy. Oh the staff here are really friendly and make you feel very welcomed. Will probably visit again a couple of months down the road. Hopefully there are new items on the menu to try!
Katong is a beautiful neighbourhood, and like several other quaint areas of Singapore, many cafes and coffeehouses have set up shop here. Katong boasts some established names like Penny University and Ninethirty by Awfully Chocolate, as well as some new cafes that have opened up in recent years such as Sinpopo Brand and Homeground Coffee Roasters.
