And one must have included Chef Azrul’s homemade gulai kawah kambing, grilled whole lamb and more. The grilled whole lamb is one of our favorites this year where the lamb is perfectly grilled with the tender juicy meat without any gammy taste at all.

Food was good and acceptable. I will likely return to try other brunch options and especially dessert which I did not have the opportunity to try since I was too full.

Oatmeal Waffles with Bananas, honey pecans, gula Melaka syrup RM17– another East meets West dish, on the sweet sides. We hardly eat walnuts but this toasted version goes really well with banana and the syrup!

My order: Steak & Ale pie with Parsley Gravy and two side dishes - Chunky Chips and Mashed Peas at MYR 32++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 37.12 nett). One pie with gravy but without any side dishes costs MYR 24++ (MYR 27.84 nett). I like the taste of the peas and fries but kept half of every item for another meal. I like this steak & ale pie, very tasty tender cubes of beef in the pie and buttery pastry pie crust.

The Sunday roast at Gavel is RM60 per head and the meat alternates between roast beef and a roast lamb leg. It was the roast lamb leg when we visited and I dare say it's the best roast lamb I've ever had. The meat was tender, flavorful (very herby and garlicky but that's fine), moist and very well done.

Banana Pancakes mixed Berries, 16 ringgit. Looks fancy, ey? This has to be a first for me, being served pancakes on a solid wooden platter. I like it 🙂 So, the dish comes with a mini bowl with mixed berries + 2 fluffy pancakes filled with bananas + a real generous portion of good honey. In most cases, I usual have to request for a refill of honey , especially when they use a good one. Considering the price, I understand why they stinge on it but still, as a customer, you need to demand your share, especially when it comes to pancakes. Here though, they literally present you with a lot of honey, so much more than usual that it is highly likely you would request for more. I was literally jumping with glee. The pancakes as a whole was delicious. The pancakes although is thicker than the usual ones – it is not less fluffy , with a sense of lightness to it. Having it on its own with the banana was good enough. Add it good honey and the sourness from the berries – one yummy pancake. Loved it.

They have this "BUY 2 FOR 1" promotion for the coffee on every weekday from 8-10am and 3-5pm! WHAT A GIFT! Buy 1 free 1, guys! And I'm not talking about seasonal promotion or something. It's every weekday, from Monday to Friday, rain or shine! God bless you, LOC!

Set Lunches: Signature Thunder Rice, 18 ringgit The Thunder Rice was wholesome. It actually is a vegetarian dish with an option to add on chicken, 6 ringgit or salmon, 8 ringgit. In all the rush, we kindda forgot to add on the meat while placing our order and when we finally remembered, we decided to forego it anyways due to the lengthy time it took for the dish to arrive at our table. For a vegetarian option, it wasnt bad at all. It was quite delicious. I did not feel like I was missing out on anything, especially in the absence of meat.
