Carbonara (RM 18.90) was a huge let down, The spaghetti noodles were slightly overcooked, while the whole plate of carbonara has scant quantity of mushrooms and topped with egg. Then the carbonara cream tasted unappetizing and bland in taste, rendering the Carbonara is a bad choice for the dinner.

Harlequin Combo and Crab Combo are both the most-ordered meals here. The former one comes with a concoction of Clams, Mussels, Yabbies, Prawns, Sausages and Corns while the latter choice has Crabs, Sausages and Corns. Both were dressed in a spicy, sweet-savory sauce. Both possessed strong smokiness; the flavor-combo was attractive at first but we thought it was too monotonous towards the end. The boldly seasoned Seafood was too hefty on the palate. Seafood was fresh and the fact that Mud Crabs with Roe were served, we thought the prices were well-justified. Good for novelty experience but not the type of food that I would want to eat on a regular basis.

Red Bean Ice Top (RM 23) was served in generous portion and topped up with Azuki beans and almond flakes. We enjoyed the well balanced sweetness introduced by the condensed milk and the sleek shaved ice that gentle to the tongue. Usage of Azuki beans did make the difference and reflect its Korean descent. It is best shared among 2 people to prevent fatigue arising from having too big bowl at one go.

Cafe Droptop has heavy presence in Korea and in recent years, it has expanded its business operations to other Asian countries. Its first outlet in Penang can be found at Maritime Piazza. Like most franchise brands, Cafe Droptop offers a standard cafe menu with a Korean touch. Peri-Peri Chicken (RM 18.80) immediately caught our attention. It is not that type of fiery and hot peri-peri sauce, but more a mild spicy sauce that drenched over a nicely roasted chicken with tender meat. The sauce blends well with the chicken and elevated its taste. Served with a baked corn and some fries, this set provides a balance of nutritional needs in terms of carbohydrate, protein and fat.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio – RM15.80 Vege, RM20.80 Seafood. Spaghetti sauteed with olive oil, chili flakes, olives, broccoli, squids and lots of garlic. There is a choice of either vegetarian or seafood for different tastebad. To me the simplest dish is the most challenging dish. This is because everyone knows how to cook it and the taste can easily be compared. Therefore, to determine a good cook, I usually will order Aglio Olio. At Papilicious Olivia’s Pasta & Pizza, the aglio olio tasted exciting and spicy. It had the right balance of saltiness, spiciness and garlic taste. I would definitely go back for this again.

Olivia's Cajun Seafood Pasta did not disappoint. The cream-based sauce was multi-dimensional and carefully seasoned on the dot. It carried a hint of spiciness and backed by a handful of Pepper, Seafood was great but we thought the Fettuccine could be more al-dente

Chicken Breast on Toast The former one was pan fried Chicken Breast served atop of Toast and mashed Potatoes, fresh greens in a touch of Pesto sauce. The flavor combo was as straight-forward as it can be but what we did not like was the Toast... which became too soggy as a result of soaking it together with the mashed Potatoes. Other than that, we thought it was quite a contenting yet, healthy dish.

The beauty of Injeolmi Bingsu is its simplicity... milk flavored shaved Ice topped with Mung Bean Flour, Mochi, Nuts and evaporated Milk. The shaved Ice was fine, soft and milky-sweet but the sweetness was of comfortable level, it was subtle and not saccharine sweet. The evaporated Milk increased the smoothness and milkiness of the sweet treat; overall, we thought it was quite delicious

Swens' Blueberry Cheese Cake was okay... it was creamy, cheesy but lacked the 'wow' factor. Sweetness was well-balanced though. Not too bad but did not really shake me. When the fresh out-of-oven Honey Strawberry Waffle was served to us, we were delighted to see the crisp edges but half way through, it turned soggy-soft; so eat it lest it turned back into a sloppy dough. It was lightly drizzled with Honey but we thought they could have served more, it was not as sweet as expected; would be even better if they could serve with a scoop of Ice Cream. Unlike what the name suggested, the Strawberry factor was in fact, weak.

Duck Meat Soup with Vermicelli Noodles , the soup was jam-packed with the meaty flavor from the Duck (though some will define it as gamy) while the Vermicelli Noodles were carefully cooked till the right texture- not slouchy nor hard to the bite. Carnivores will be excited to see the generous serving of meat in this bowl of meat-wholesomeness. Vietnam's cuisine is greatly influenced by France, when they introduced us their Ham & Roasted Pork Sanwich , we didn't hesitate to try. The ham they used were homemade and it is very different with the western ham we usually have especially its texture and taste. We find their roasted pork eminently scrumptious, expelling the pork's aroma yet keeping the meat's moisture. They have considerably separated the cilantro in case some find its strong scent intolerable. Or else, you may sandwiched them between the bread.

Miscela by Woosh Coffee is one of a kind cafe, the location for both Miscela and Woosh Coffee has been weird.... Miscela is housed in one of the property showrooms at Jelutong (Aspen Beacon Concept Gallery) while Woosh Coffee can be found in a Penang college (INTI International College Penang). But the setting of Miscela is somewhat impressive (probably part of the showroom), the place is clinically clean with bright setting and surrounded by colorful LED displays. Customers whom are keen on the properties are often invited to the tables for sales-talk, the atmosphere is designed for business meetings over coffee. Miscela does offer a small menu with main and they take that seriously. Though the place does not have complete kitchen setting, it manages the food well (at least we did not feel shortchange). Aspen Beacon Concept Gallery is located at Sungai Pinang, right next to the Japanese School.

Teriyaki Chicken and Sesame Pasta was probably the best scorer of the day but it was a misnomer. We were expecting a dry Pasta with Teriyaki sauce as seasoning but it was in fact, a cream-based Pasta topped with Teriyaki Chicken. Another best brekkie specialty is the Grill Salmon & Scrambled Egg. A surprise indeed as its visual does not prepare one’s guests for the fish dish. The marinated salmon rolled into the shape of sausage goes through a grilling cooking process, and served with scrambled egg on top of a slice of wholemeal baguette. A tasty Hollandaise sauce prepared from egg yolks accompanies it well.

As we had two pieces of cakes, we thought of having something light - Wholemeal Baguette with Grilled Salmon & Eggs (RM 22.90). The dish is appealing aesthetically and the taste is more on the mediocre side. The salmon was purposely rolled to resemble to shape of the sausage and topped with hollaindaise sauce, but it would be great if the salmon is served warmer. We are a little skeptical on the claim that the bread is baguette, as it was soft and not chewy at all.

The signature at Genki Canteen is Hokkien Mee and Nasi Lemak. The cafe offers Signature Hokkien Mee at RM 9.90 (which is about double of usual hawker price), while addition of pork rib and prawns to the noodle have the price tag of RM 15.90 and RM 16.90 respectively. Genki Canteen's Hokkien Mee are nicely presented, although it did not differ much in terms of the ingredients offerings and portion. The taste is good though, brimming with nice and rich prawn scent and sleek in taste.

The Signature Hokkien Mee is probably one of the best sellers on the menu. We had the basic one at Rm 9.90 per bowl and it was.... basic. While we must agree that it was a decent Hokkien Mee (discernible Prawn flavor with a hint of Porky notes), the portion was small.
