Antipodean Cafe takes its very soul from the cafes that have gone before it, not only in the Antipodes, but also in Europe. The goal is to create a meeting place, a central spot where expatriates and locals can meet, chat, gossip, romance and chill out over a cup of excellent coffee and a place of good tucker. Other than providing a great cafe experience, we took it upon us to ensure the cafe culture will continue to flourish with the times.

Grilled Three-cheese Sub, 16 ringgit. This was really, really yummy! I could not open half of the croissant up without making it all messy. the melted cheese inside acted like a glue, difficult to get through it. So, this dish comes with two medium sized croissants. The filling inside is made up of three types of cheese – Mozzarella + Cheddar + Parmesan. Imagines mixing all three of those , you would have yourself a gooey pile of melted, creamy cheese and with a little help from mayonnaise, which provides a sweetish flavor, it all combined to make this one delicious calorie overload but -so-worth-it dish.

They recommended us to try this Mango and Jalapeno sausage. It’s mixed with pork meat and encased in a really crunchy casing..just the way we love it! I love the flavour combination very much! I wanted to order this at first but my skeptic self (as usual) went for a safer combo.

To credit where it’s due, the minimalistic, warehouse-finished interior design and the effort to place some greenery in the restaurant is well done. The food is probably good enough to satisfy hotdog cravings but, however, nowhere near enough to knocking your socks off.

The sausages prove juicy & easy to enjoy - two of us easily finished five hot dogs (though we likely left behind some bread). Note however that the infusion of elements like cinnamon may turn out to be more subtle than expected, supplying nuanced dimensions of flavour instead of knock-out dynamics. There's potential for slow-burning pleasure, but probably no fireworks.

Kampar Curry Mee (S3), 10.50 ringgit. Man, this was da bomb! As soon as you slurp the first spoon, just the gravy along was enough to reel you in. I kid you not, we literally slurped everything and left the bowl empty at the end of it all – that was how yummy it tasted. In this bowl, you would taste everything they are known for – their curry me and their home made balls. A bowl filled with delicious, thick flavorful gravy, soft chewy mee hoon, generous portions of loh bak and 2 big fish balls. I can see now why their home made balls are popular, it was tasty and chewy, you’d taste meat from your first bite all the way through to your last bite. Very little to no flour used. I was very impressed.

The cafe’s signature is their grilled chicken chop with coffee sauce. It may sound like an odd combination, but the sauce has a nice coffee aroma to it and a slightly bitter tang which cuts through the creaminess and binds all the flavours together. The thigh meat was tender and juicy, perfect for sopping up the sauce. It also came served with cranberry butter rice, vegetables and a baked potato with sour cream

Paneer Burger, 14.90 ringgit This was simply because we both loveeee paneer – cottage cheese and paneer served this way, in a burger? We just had to give it a go, too curious to say no, lol. It was pretty good. The burger buns itself was crispy and a lil sweet, which complimented the paneer itself, which basically tasted as paneer usually would. Good thing that their paneer patty was not too thin or else we would not have been able to taste much. Here, it was just right. I liked this dish very much. I’d order it again too.

Eating is not just to fill the stomach, you can do that with mixed rice, but it's the entire package, environment, ambience, smell, music, style, serving and etc. This is what Ben's in BSC offer, and I would definitely come back for any lazy afternoon that I just want a place to stretch myself for a lazy lunch/dinner. White Rabbit Bubble Tea, 13.90 ringgit Okay, if you want White Rabbit – that is exactly what you’d get here. It was potent. The bubble teas we usually come across are a tad or somewhere watery, right? Not this one though. Imagine peeling off them wrappers and taking tonnes of those white rabbit sweets, putting it onto a heating pan and heating it till it melt. Har Jiong (Shrimp sauce) Chicken wings (3 per portion) at MYR 14+ (MYR 14.7 nett). I thought the chicken wings were marinated in Har Go which is Penang Shrimp Paste but after tasting the wings, it is not Har Go but Har Jiong because the taste is not as strong as the Penang Shrimp Paste. The wings were crispy amd juicy. I was pleasantly surprise to see some salad leaves and baby tomatoes accompanying the wings. The mayo dip provided is sourish sweet and a bit spicy.

Grilled Cajun Chicken Breast (RM 24) Their all time favorites and one of the best sellers too. Enjoy the tender chicken breast, oven roasted to preserve its juiciness. The meat comes simply moist and juicy. What’s make it better is where it is sides of sautéed mushrooms and generous serving of pepper sauce. The taste is not too spicy but I am loving the fragrant blend of the black pepper taste.

PORK RIBS (HALF RM30/ FULL RM56) Sanbanto pork, Kicap Manis Glaze The flesh was tender and juicy, and it was a joy to eat. We adore how the moisture was retained in the flesh, makes detaching the flesh from the bones an easy task. We also especially love the taste with a drizzle of the lime juice. It balances out the sweet caramelized coating of the flesh. Normally ribs can get a little cloying for me due to its high fats content, but I seemed to be enjoying this quite a lot, probably due to its sour-y appetising taste from the lime juice.

Piggie Pesto, 29 ringgit. This was good. It was a classic pesto pasta with smoked pork bacon and pork croutons. A lil dryer than the pesto pastas I usually have and with a whole lot lesser pesto sauce but it was nevertheless tasty. The pork croutons was a creative inclusion, it certainly did add flavor and some chewyness to this dish. There were button mushrooms scattered all over which added more texture to the dish. Overall, a good dish.

The rice has strong coconut milk taste and the blue colour is from "bunga telang" - the flower of the blue-pea plant (Clitoria ternatea).
