My favourite by far is the “Tray’s croque madame with roast beef, swiss gruyere, fried egg and gherkins” – RM24. Every bite was pure satisfaction – thick, tasty beef coupled with moist egg plus sweet, salty cheese. … hmm! Be sure to devour this while it is hot.

That cake though …. da bomb!! I mean, it sure was finger licking good. If you are a fan of ‘pandan’ – you’d certainly love this. Before the cake even reaches your table, you would be able to smell the tempting, distinct aroma of the pandan. Then, when it finally arrives at your table, digging into it and savoring it… yuuuuuummmmmm. I was instantly in love. The taste of ‘Gula Melaka” was evident too. Unlike cakes at most other cafes, whereby the gula melaka is often just a sprinkle/drizzle on the top, here, it comes with a generous layer. The cake itself, over all, was soft and moist. The grated coconut on the top was an excellent addition as it provided a difference in texture. I’d certainly give this cake a go again.

The space is light and airy, with almost a gallery feel to it (understated for the compelling curious to shine). The set up is pretty minimal, with a coffee bar on one side and a set of seatings on the opposite, however, what is inspirational is that BAC thrives to be a well-sited social destination, by having a genuine rapport with the public, and become a resource centre and a hub for creative minds to network.

Tomato Pesto Pasta, 18 ringgit + Shrimps, 6 ringgit. It does not matter of you dislike tomato, do give this dish a try. A MUST try. It was utterly delicious. If you dislike tomato, worry not. You wont be able to see/taste much of it. Push it aside, for all I care but do give this a try. Also, the paata by itself does not come with shrimps but add on 6 ringgit and do get those shrimps. It was fresh and well cooked, totally da bomb. Loved the flavors the pasta offered, not too spicy, a little crunchyness scattered here and there. Yum yum.

Jamaica Blue Fine Coffees - Mid Valley Megamall Restaurant

Lot FK-05 Level 1, South Court, Mid Valley Mega Mall Lingkaran Syed Putra 59200 Kuala Lumpur

Jamaica Blue has been built on two simple beliefs that have guided us in everything that we’ve done: a belief in sourcing the very best coffee; and a belief in using only fresh, premium ingredients to deliver contemporary café dishes with a twist. Our name, Jamaica Blue, is drawn from the majestic Blue Mountains of Jamaica, one of the best coffee producing regions in the world and home to our exclusive Wallenford Estate® Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. Our simple philosophy of great coffee and food, together with our passionate crew of chefs, baristas and service team are the Jamaica Blue recipe for continued success. From our humble beginnings twenty-odd years ago, we now have a growing international network of more than 130 cafés in Australia, New Zealand, China, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

My conclusion: Jamaica Blue offers decent food at a competitive price. Their coffee is simply one of the best especially their signature blend coffee and the price point is definitely cheaper than those mainstream brand like 'S' and 'TCB'. Other than Mid Valley, they have four more branches in Klang Valley, one in Seremban, one in Johor Bahru and one in Kuching, Sarawak.

This hot drink is a hot chocolate as it is using white chocolate case and adding a hit of blue curacao syrup to give it a vibrant colour. So that's why it is blue Latte. Once I taste it, it is so sweet. In my opinion, it is very suitable for those people who love sweet and it will make you smile and happy always. You may have to spend around RM20 per pax for a meal here if you order their char siew separately by portion sizes. If you find the prices too steep, then go for a more reasonably priced plate of char siew rice. Though this place has been around for 7 years now, I don't know if the standard is still the same as when they first started (since this is my first visit) but it definitely has a place (in my books) among some of the top-notch char siew I've had over the years. We tend to eat at the same places or close to where we live and I'm only discovering some of these places since I started blogging about my food experiences among others. I guess I should have come sooner but better late than never, right? It'll be interesting to see what's in store at their new place.....new additions to the menu perhaps? I shall return! ^_^

My Personal Opinion Overall, I'd say the noodles here are so-so (at least those I've tried) and possibly a decent option for the folks of TTDI in this area. But if put to the test with the many good noodles stalls in PJ, they probably wouldn't do as well. The prawn mee is definitely the better bet here. It's a decent tasting prawn mee but not one that would make me go 'wow' and crave for it. If I live around the area, I probably won't mind dropping by for a bowl of prawn mee but, since I don't, I certainly won't come all the way here just to have it. I came here for the iconic prawn mee but came out enjoying the nyonya kuih stall more.....hihihi! ;)

So I went for a large plate of shrimp chee cheong fun (RM7). The dish did not disappoint, as the slightly translucent rolls had a nice, chewy texture to them, and the sambal had a definite kick. I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever tasted coz the sauce was a little too oily + the shrimps were small, but it was tasty nonetheless. I’d rate it an 8/10!

Japan Chicken Curry Bowl (RM16) is also a specialty here so it was highly recommended by the barista. This dish is more suitable if you have low heat tolerant as it tasted quite flat, but not in a bad way. The Japanese curry was rich and creamy especially after mixing it with the egg yolk.

Bulgogi Chicken Bowl, 15 ringgit. This dish was yummy. There is a certain kind of excitement when it comes to a rice bowl, especially when you see all the ingredients nicely placed, the want/need to mix it and mess it all up – a rush of excitement, lol. Exactly what I felt when I started mixing the Korean kimchi, sliced cucumber, dried seaweed, spring onions, crispy crunch and soft boiled egg with the rice. It all got mixed intoa bowl of gooey, yummy rice. There is a variety of flavors, the kimchi makes all the difference in providing a certain ‘kick’ that made it all the more tasty.

The cafe’s signature is their grilled chicken chop with coffee sauce. It may sound like an odd combination, but the sauce has a nice coffee aroma to it and a slightly bitter tang which cuts through the creaminess and binds all the flavours together.
