It was a surprised discovery as I hardly ventured deep into Cheras area for coffee hopping purpose, reason because I had always thought that the caffeine field is greener at the Uptown Damansara side. I wasn't impressed with any of the desserts I tried here. In fact, I pretty much want to forget it altogether. You probably might not be sampling the same dessert platter since the choice of these 8 petite portions changes depending on what the chef puts out. Hopefully, the next time you're there, the pastries selection tastes much better than it looks.

For a cafe-hopping experience that is a bit out of the ordinary, Pretty on Plate offers that and more. As this is still the first week of operation for them I believe there would be ongoing changes. Service is welcoming and attentive. My concerns? 1. The price is a bit steep for the plated desserts; considering the portion served. While I understand that (1) quality ingredients are used, (2) every plate is prepared upon order similarly to a fine dining restaurant, (3) every component on the plate is painstakingly made (some via technologically advance methods), the average customer might not be able to fully appreciate such details. 2. The brioche wasn’t as rich (buttery) as its name suggested and I thought it might have tasted better warm; versus hard and cold. Now imagine a buttery warm brioche with cold ice cream.. mmmmmm… 3. Aaron had said there will be more desserts in the coming weeks and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the creation of some unconventional desserts; perhaps something of a signature that will set Pretty On Plate further apart from other cafes. No doubt the plated desserts concept is uncommon, but the 5 varieties offered centered around berries and chocolate (with the exception of key lime) which I thought was rather safe and universal. That said, I wish Aaron and his team all the best and many thanks for having me!

Verdict: Overall, it is a heavenly delicious experience of exploring the taste of real chocolates in the uniquely Malaysian way. Harriston chocolates are perfect for gifting and personal enjoyment without burning a hole in the wallet. I'd definitely revisit Harriston Signature Cafe for its Hot Chocolate Drink and delicious Durian chocolates.

We have eaten at the Sheng Kee branch in MyTown Mall a few times and the food tastes fine but this time the food does not taste as good as before so I guess it will be our last time there. Sui Gao and Char Siew wanton mee in soup at MYR 17.90++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 20.76 nett).

SK Signature Combination Noodles (Dry) - MYR 18.90++ (10% service charge and 6% GST making it MYR 22.05 nett). The combination food items are: BBQ pork (Char Siew), 3 Wantons and 2 Sui Kow dumplings. My friend did not like the gravy of this noodle - she says that the gravy tastes as if it has a budget version of sesame oil in it but the texture of the noodles is nice - soft yet springy. A small bowl of broth accompanies this dry noodle dish.

It's a place you can go to for a cheap and no-fuss meal but keep your expectations in check although the chendul is worth trying if you like very fine shaved ice. If I do come back it would to try their Assam Laksa (since I had a small sampling with the fried popiah dip) and to have their chendul again....but next time I'll have my own bowl and ask for less sweet (or ask for the gula melaka to be served separately) to make it as perfect as possible (for my personal taste bud)! ^_*

Cheesy Octopus @ RM10.90 Our preferred one out of the 4 is the octopus. We liked the contrast between the spongy octopus and soft mashed potato worked perfectly. Smoked duck come close to second as the smokiness of the duck slices balanced well with the sweetness of the potato.

We ordered the Harmony Chipechee (RM 7.90). Basically it is Croffle with filling of chicken pepperoni & cheese. The texture of their version of croffle is soft and flaky, the chicken pepperoni and cheese is flavourful so this is very addictive and delicious. This croffle is similar to Thailand’s 7 Eleven’s Croissant Sandwich Ham & Cheese. Of course, the croffle from Maison De Gigi is freshly made and tastier.
