The Habitat is one of the best eco-tourism attractions in Penang. It features one of the most immersive and authentic nature experiences that take you through a pre-historic rainforest on Penang Hill that’s over 130-million years old. In comparison, the Amazon Rainforest is only 55-million years old. This basically means this forest has one of the most diverse tropical ecosystems in the world. And at The Habitat, you get to experience it in leisure.
The Habitat on Penang Hill is the perfect place to visit for the most complete, exciting and educational Malaysian rainforest experience…
Aside from the popular activities such as The Canopy Walk or Sunset Walk in The Habitat, the latest attraction that you must try out is "The Flight of the Colugo" that let you zip through the amazing rainforest canopy at the Penang Hill. We tried it and absolutely had a fun time during the entire process. Not only we get to have a different perspective of Penang hill, we also learn a bit more on the nature of Penang hill.
Tanjung Tuan has a new trail. Connecting the famous promontory’s Forest Trail with its historical Dutch Well trail, this relatively unknown hike 35 minute hike offers a blood-pumping workout out with views from the hilltop of Pantai Keramat’s hidden cove.
For first time visitors to Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest near Port Dickson, the most obvious walk this forest reserve offers is the punishing trek up its tarmac road to its lighthouse. But look closer and you’ll discover wooded trails that are short and easy to navigate, with scenic views, unspoiled beaches and historical landmarks.
Mount Pulai could be considered as one of the most popular recreational and hiking spots in Johor, often visited by the locals and neighbours from Singapore. Standing at the height of 654 meter, it is not really considered as a mountain but more of a hill, even though it had the name of ‘Mount’ Pulai.
KDCF’s trails are well maintained by KDCF society’s volunteers and partners such as MyChangkul and Temuan Orang Asli Community. Thus, the forest trails are very nice and enjoyable by hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers alike. The paths are relatively easy and flat. The most difficult parts are only the steep trails near Tiga Puteri Peak.
This is part 1 of 4 where in we visited the beautiful village of Putuo
Kinabalu National Park, home to the magnificent Mount Kinabalu, is also Malaysia’s first World Heritage Site. While the main attraction of Kinabalu Park is, of course, the climb up to Mount Kinabalu, the park also offers many hiking trails by the base of the mountain.
Made a botanical garden and public park by decree of then Sultan of Selangor in 1955, sadly since then Templer Park has slowly been eked away for the development of highways and luxury properties much to the disappointment of conservationists. An important water catchment area, the park is also habitat to threatened and endangered species of flora and fauna such as the Sumatran serow, a rare and reclusive wild goat.

Labuk Bay’s mission is to provide a sanctuary for the proboscis monkeys and to educate people on sustainable ways of co-existing with nature and its inhabitants…. If you are lucky and sharp eye, the mangroves of Labuk Bay are home to more than just the proboscis monkeys!
Another less known historic treasure is the remains of British Royal Air Force (RAF)’s Bristol Brigand serial number RH755, crashed in Bintang Hijau Forest Reserve.
Set aside in 1992, Bukit Kubu’s 12 hectare recreational forest attracts a stream of Kuala Perlis’ locals, who visit in the evenings to trek, run, jog and play sepak takraw. My only opportunity to explore it was on my last day volunteering with MareCet, and I’m happy to report I was pleasantly surprised.
