Set aside in 1992, Bukit Kubu’s 12 hectare recreational forest attracts a stream of Kuala Perlis’ locals, who visit in the evenings to trek, run, jog and play sepak takraw. My only opportunity to explore it was on my last day volunteering with MareCet, and I’m happy to report I was pleasantly surprised.
Rating Medium. The hike to Pintu Wang Gunung is not a long one but it does require strength, balance and agility due to the rope work and navigation along the tops of rocky outcrops.
Also known as Bukit Laka, Bukit Tok Dun is part of Jajaran Telipong range of hills, much of which has been converted into plantation land. There are a few ways up to the 325 metre summit. There with Perlis Hikers’ Abang Jie, ours begins in Perlis and culminates in Kedah, making this a multi-state hike. But as the trek is along mostly exposed dirt track, it’s also less a destination hike, more a convenient workout if you happen to be in the area.
