Verdict: Our Ramen experience at Menya Shi Shi Do was a bit underwhelming. The food didn’t quite impress us, revisit? Most probably not so soon I think.

Once again, this was another satisfying lunch. The tsukemen is not cheap though, as it stood for about RM30 a serving and the croquettes about RM 5.90.

Marufuku Udon - Jaya One Restaurant

P1.039, Level P1, The School, Jaya One, 72A, Jalan Universiti, Seksyen 13, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia

Marufuku is modern Japanese casual dining. The cuisine will be totally unique as it is an udon specialty shop. We are the first and only fresh udon concept in Malaysia. The major difference is the texture of our udon.

虽然 Marufuku Udon 不是高级的日式餐厅,所用的食材也没有非常高级,但是胜在价格公道,自制的乌冬面也很不错

First, we had the Shitake Nanban (RM12.90). The Nanban sauce is a vinegar sauce, which gives a bit of a tart flavour, and is served paired with their very own home made tar tar sauce. The batter was deep fried perfectly, and when cut open, the mushroom itself is juicy enough that it's not too dry. Definitely one of my favorite dish in Momochan.

Omu Hamburg Steak 24.90 But the omlette was too bland to provide any additional taste to the burger steak. The burger steak was all right, it tasted like just another frozen burger steak, it was pretty dry. The vegetables were so bland and raw that they totally dull the whole dish. I think the dish would have tasted so much better if they made the effort to fire grill those vege and give them an additional flavour to complement the dish. So this dish was a total fail in our opinion.

The scrambled egg is done to perfection here. Upon slicing it, the oval omelette unfurled its soft cooked egg curds. Such beauty works are a work to be amazed at, and of course it equally tantalizing. It paired well with the teriyaki chicken. Instead making it a Japanese cuisine, they made a fusion by introducing broccoli, lotus roots and capsicum, which worked perfectly

There is no question about this restaurant. It is suitable for all ages. We all really satisfy with their food, environment and service. However, I do expect more on the sequence they serve the food especially on ala-carte meal (not omakase). How can you serve the soup in the end? I am expecting them to know to start from appetizer or soup/salad first before the main course. Total Damage: RM371.95 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food Serving Speed: Moderate Will I Revisit?: Yes

Now I've been to Jaya 33 a couple of times, but have yet to drop by Ramen Ten & Shin Tokyo Sushi to dine there. It was pretty cool then that I had the opportunity to drop by and try out their fares last week, with a revamped menu sporting some really nice japanese cuisine and ramens.

Verdict: Please be reminded that Ramen Bar Shi Shi Do doesn’t take reservation, hence you only can walk in and have to expect a queue on weekends. Service was decent despite being busy and over all, our dinner was fairly good except for a few misses in between. Revisit? In between yes or no, I would say 😛 So drop by if you have chance and let me know your verdict!

Overall, ramen is good, but not as mind-blowing as said by many. We do love the ambience (that Japanese feel that makes us miss Japan more) and friendly service. Staffs are really attentive, checking with us if everything is ok from time to time despite being busy. Will we come back again? Yes. And FYI, HEJAU, a matcha specialist is now opened at Gasket Alley too. Get your matcha latte & matcha sweet treat craving fixed after slurpy bowl of ramen.
