Bukit Kopungit Hiking Trail is one of Kota Kinabalu hiking trails that are very easy to explore. It is also a favorite spot for airplane watchers to see closeup of planes taking off from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, just by the side of the hill. Climbing Mt. Trus Madi can be done in 2 to 4 days, depends on the trail you pick. There are three summit trails that lead to the highest peak of Mt. Trus Madi, i.e.: Kaingaran Trail in Tambunan Mannan Trail in Keningau Mastan Trail in Sook
The last 300m to the summit was super duper muddy! But it was also because it was raining the day before. The views were actually nicer at the viewing tower where it was higher than the summit. But apparently the official board of Mt Trusmadi was fixed here first and hence they continued to use this as the summit.

Tun Fuad Stephens Park, a popular park for joggers in Kota Kinabalu, is also a place to go for a short casual hike. The hill, called Bukit Padang, is located within the park area. There are multiple hiking trails to reach Bukit Padang peak.

At 3776 meters, Mount Kinabalu via ferrata was verified by Guinness World Record as the highest via ferrata in the world. Via ferrata is the Italian word for ‘Iron Path’, it is a protected mountain path with cables and metal rungs installed along the rockface.
Bukit Bongol is a beautiful yet not too popular hiking place, located in Kota Belud. Its main attraction is the hilly and grassy terrains on the top, with great panorama views to see very far away.
Mount Nungkok, was given the name ‘Anak Kinabalu’, by locals from the nearby villages. It means the ‘child of Kinabalu’, as it sits right beside the gigantic Mount Kinabalu. Mount Nungkok is less known and it cannot be seen from the touristy town of Kundasang or Kota Kinabalu.
