Soup is pack with flavour, you can taste the rice wine, heat from the ginger, slightly fragrant from soy sauce, sweetness from the clamp. It is indeed a satisyfying bowl for your lunch. It would taste even better if it is on rainy day as a sip of the soup could keep your tummy warm.

The Char Kuey Teow was really good. I can understand why many food bloggers rated Lai Foong to have one of the Top 10 Fried Kuey Teow in downtown KL. The noodles were well cooked and tasty, came accompanied with egg + cockles + fishcakes + Chinese sausages + lard + prawns + taugeh. Here, when you order LARGE, you’d get LARGE, Lots of noodles. I ate it all anyway since I was really hungry. Burp!

Taste:9/10(Delicious. Satisfied with the meals here. So far they seems to serve the best beef noodles in KL. Portion were good. I tried both version of soup and dry beef noodles and found that dry version taste better. Also their dry version with peanuts which makes the noodles taste better. The meat is soft. The tendon is good and normal beef noodles bowl came with beef balls & tripes. I order extra honeycomb which is very tender and taste good in beef broth. You also have option to add crispy fish skin for tastier option)

For MYR 13 nett, there is a lot of ingredients (exclude the honeycomb tripe which is from the big bowl). This is the closest to my favourite Yong Kang beef noodle in Taiwan that I can get in KL but the broth does not taste as strong although many people who have reviewed this eatery wrote that the broth taste very strong (star anise) to them. The chunks of beef are very tender with a strong beef taste so for those who do not like strong beef taste, please give them to your friends who do.

For those who are not into noodles, you can have their nasi lemak with either luncheon meat or fried chicken (go for the luncheon meat). ^_~ For a Chinese-style nasi lemak, they do justice to the sambal (but a little on the salty side). We ordered Beef Mix Noodles (牛杂肉丸) RM10.00 that serves with a bowl of rice noodles (grounded beef as toppings) and a bowl of soup with assorted beef parts in it. The beef was tender and juicy, soup or broth was clear yet very rich in taste, overall taste like having a bowl of Bakso (Indonesian Beef Noodles) instead of the Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodles) that dashes some extra leaves and limes as flavouring.

Go Noodle House - Jaya One 有間麵館 Restaurant

Block D, The School, Jaya One 61-P1, Jalan Universiti Pjs 13 46200 Petaling Jaya Selangor

The story of GO Noodle House revolves around the values of rela onship. At a dinner hosted by one of the co-founders in his humble home, the group of friends were impressed by the tradi onal ChaoZhou soup served by his mother. Using this family recipe, which evolved from the Qing Dynasty, as a base, the group of friends re ned the technique and set up the very rst GO Noodle House in 2014. Using superior pork broth, enhanced with premium yellow rice wine, as a base – diners can choose a variety of noodles and toppings to make a delicious and wholesome meal. A crowd favourite is GO Noodle House’s signature mi xian, which is made from pure rice our. The signature bursting meatball is also an ever present in almost every order. The signature rice noodles with meatball, which according to others, the meatball has a soupy and juicy filling, which will burst in your mouth. I started with having a sip of its soup and it did not disappoint me. The soup, which was made from fish bone, was flavourful but refreshing at the same time. The rice noodles were very springy, well absorbed with the soup. While others may not like coriander, I was very pleased that coriander was given generously on the top of my bowl. Anyway, if you don't like it, you may opt it out by informing the waiter.

Bankara Ramen - Avenue K Restaurant

Lot 2-7, Level 2, Avenue K Mall, 156 Jalan Ampang Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The word ”Bankara” is a colloquial term that was once used in Japan to best describe an individual outstanding and unique style amidst the swarm of a conformist society. Bankara’s brand values and product offering are unmistakably Japanese, yet differentiated from the market competitors in tantalising the customers dining experience, namely the palette and sensory immersion. Embracing the philosophy “Cooking by Heart”, Bankara brand is the result of Mr. Kusano’s desire to constantly innovate and improve the taste of Japanese ramen. Drawing upon his family’s expertise handed down through the generations, Mr. Kusano embarked on a quest in selecting the finest of ingredients and cooking techniques, to develop a new ramen soup recipe. In 1998, the “Impact” taste so broadly associated with the brand, heralded the arrival of the Bankara Signature Ramen. With over 60 premium outlets spanning across Japan, Indonesia and Thailand, we proudly present Bankara Raman Malaysia.

My Personal Opinion I'm not a big fan of ramen and don't have it often enough for the very reasons why people find ramen appealing....for the intensely rich-flavoured pork bone broth and fatty meat. Maybe I should try a lighter soup base...or chicken ramen next time since I prefer clear, milder flavours. Still a worthy ramen option to those who adore big, bold flavours! ;)

The ordering can be described as a 3 step process: 1: choose your type of noodles (by pointing if you don’t know the name for it) 2: choose to have your noodles with broth or without broth (haeng), and 3: choose your level of spiciness (spicy or not). A suggestion for first timers could be to order one bowl that is spicy and without soup, and one bowl that is non-spicy but with soup.

In Penang, it is so difficult to get Polo Butter Bun. That is the reason I came to this cafe to try out the bun. It is in fact one of their best-sellers and usually sold out by noon. The top crust was so nice and the bun was soft and warm. Having it with soft and creamy butter was simply satisfying. This bun is perfect when it is served warm.

The Asam Laksa was awesome too. Although this dish I decided to go for SMALL, the portion was generous as well. The sardines, at most eateries, I’d usually get only one chunk but here is got three, large pieces. Now that, I liked very much. It makes all the difference, you know? Yea yea, I am tad cuckoo when it comes to them sardines. Then, there was the laksa noodles + cracker/keropok + lettuce + shrimp paste + onions + pineapples. A satisfying dish it was. It embodied and fulfilled all the elements of an asam laksa.

Besides curry noodles and assam laksa, they also offer Tom Yum Noodles, Fish Ball Noodles and Jawa Mee. The curry noodles here is definitely my preferred choice over the assam laksa. This curry mee can give our favourite curry laksa a run for its money although it didn't knock it off its top spot in our books. Plus the price for such a fully loaded bowl makes it really cheap. Make sure you order their two side snacks of Penang Lobak and Penang Otak-Otak as they're equally yum. If you can't make it here, they've opened a stall in Makan-Makan by Parkson (on Level 3, Sunway Velocity Mall) since February 2017 under the name of Homey Curry Laksa (now that's a name I can understand). They strive to give you the homemade taste (like your mom or grandma makes or use to make) in their curry mee, hence the name Jia Li Mian or Homey Curry Laksa. Did they deliver? For me, they did.

There are a couple of well known places where you can get great tasting laksa in Seremban. Among all, the most popular one has got to be Senawang’s Restoran Asia Laksa.

I actually quite like their Curry Mee although I always do prefer Penang Curry Mee. Their light and mild curry soup actually give you more space to crave after leaving the shop. I definitely will come back again if I'm in Kuantan again.

The Char Koay Teow may not look much different from the others, but it was really delicious, fragrantly fried with lots of “wok-hei” flavour! We suspected the use of duck egg made the delectable plate even more fragrant. It didn’t leave a very greasy feel too. Much better than the one we had from an unknown stall in Pulau Tikus the previous day!

The place was in in full swing on Sunday morning circa 10.00am and we were lucky to secure the last table or else we might need to wait table for hours according to Ken. We placed our order and wait patiently for our food to be served. There are other foods available in the coffee shop too such as prawn noodle (known as Hokkien Mee in Penang), Lor Bak and etc.

Overall, the taste of the wan tan mee was unique and the deep fried wan tan tasted crunchy and delicious. The price of the food here was considered reasonable too as the noodle portion and wontons were larger than usual . The drawback is the additional charge of clear soup which is usually complementary in other stalls. It is also not easy to find parking nearby as the road is a main road and parking is not allowed.

Potentially one of the most expensive Wan Ton Mees in Penang, Wan Ton Mee House's comes with a splash of own-developed Egg-gravy to be mixed and eaten with the noodles. On top of that, Wan Ton Mee House's rendition of Wan Ton Mee sees a serving of addictive Pork Lards, crispy Deep Fried Wan Ton/ Dumplings, dressed in a luscious gravy. The texture of the noodles was alright, but they could be more generous with the Chilies. Sambal will only be given upon request, which is a nuisance for chili-lovers like us. All in all, we thought the noodles were of decent-quality; definitely not something that we would want to go all out for it but neither do we against it.

Noodles are deeply rooted in our culinary consciousness, there is no one size fits all. There are a lot of varieties on offer and they can come in different size, color, shape, texture as well as flavor. Typically, Pan Mee (a type of Hakka Noodles) is served in the shape of thin, round and smooth texture but Ah Ma Pan Mee, a newly opened Pan Mee specialist at 4th Street Club (Tye Sin Street) decides to do things differently. Using traditional recipe from Pahang, the noodle joint offers Pan Mee in its own style. While the soup bases and condiments are similar, the noodles stand out. They come in irregularly fat-round shape with al-dente (slightly chewy and bouncy) texture. The menu is not big but the air-conditioned restaurant offers a comfortable dining space for hungry diners to have a quick fix; definitely a place where fans of Pan Mee should check out.
