I like the neighbourhood vibe of Owen Road and am happy that there is a bakery like The Bakehaus to inject a new lease of life to this precinct.
The Bakehaus is a place that bread lovers should make the trip for, and somewhere we would, and already returned to for more.
Crispy buttery croissant, and smooth latte. Not bad.
Overall, I really enjoyed the pastries at The Lunar Rabbit Boulangerie, and I now believe that it really makes a difference when food is made from the heart.
Brown Butter Spiced Banana Cale, Classic Financier and Madeleine. Fragrant, buttery, moist and not overly sweet. Nice.
A place that is worth trying if one is into humble, unpretentious neighbourhood bakery-style bread when in the area.
It is what it is – an old school cake which was soft, creamy and sweet from the chocolate sprinkles and the subtle mango cream. Tasty from the nostalgia.
Drop by Au Croissant if you’re craving some fun-flavoured croissants or toasty freshly-baked goods!
In terms of distance from Yishun, Toa Payoh is a lot closer than Jalan Besar. However, I have been visiting Jalan Besar and its surrounding ...
The kiosk will also offer a range of healthier and handmade Avocado dessert treats for takeaway.
Run by a ex five-star hotel pastry chef, Muffles serve sweet treats and desserts at hawker prices in Jalan Besar.
I find this place quite Instagram-worthy and the environment really amused me. Comparing food wise and ambiance, I will prefer the latter as food was quite standard besides their specialties of Tiramisu in Glass Jars.
Perhaps having not tried the meals courses here, it will give be a good reason to be back here again!
I am glad that The Tiramisu Hero continues to thrive and I would visit it again should I be in that area. The charming cafe has good food and coffee and their refreshing light tiramisu is a delight.
Albeit on the pricey side, each kueh is painstakingly and laboriously crafted out so we feel that the prices are actually pretty fair and reasonable.
I have a sweet spot for nonya kuehs and imagine my delight when I stumbled upon Peranakan Khek.
It is really good to see some of our young bakers taking on our very own local cakes and kuehs! The kuehs here are made with passion and care which you should be able to taste.
