The Porki Society is a Thai restaurant in Sea Park just minutes’ drive away from SS2. They made waves with their boat noodles a couple of years ago when those were still considered the must try food in Klang Valley. Now, The Porki Society is perhaps better well known for their affordable and well executed Thai pork dishes, which I have to say are deserving of their reputation

Red curry [Pork (RM19.80)/ Seafood (RM23.80)] If you adore hot and spicy food, this dish is not to be missed. There's just something so unique about Thai's red coconut, which sits on the sweeter side in comparison to Malaysian curry, but delicious in their very own distinct way. This curry is ideal to be eaten with rice, its thick and savoury broth would make you engulf the rice in no time. We opted for pork, and they were pretty fresh and came in decent amount. Basically their curry is on par with most of the Thai food chains out there, but are more reasonably priced. So the next time you're craving for Thai curry but not ready to burn a hole in your wallet, this place is definitely your go to.

Avocado Beansprout Salad. Price-RM15.90 What interest me from the menu - salad that says beansprout , and it comes with avocado. The slight sourness and the natural sweetness from the ingredients, makes u want to have more. What an interesting way to use beansprout, which is my first ever - and visually, this salad looks so good.

A place I don’t mind returning again and again, if they keep their quality consistent.

The only things I thought would have improved it was some crushed peanuts and some mint leaves.

Due out of curiosity, we also did order a set of Tuk Tuk Laksa RM10.80 – serving with a bowl of laksa broth, spice leaves, bean sprouts, salted vegetables, and rice vermicelli. The result was surprising “Aroi Mak Mak Mak” (very very very delicious), once you dipped the rice vermicelli into the laksa broth and start chowing, next thing you can savor is the rich mellow goodness of coconut milk that directly overcomes with a fine scent of dried shrimps, lemongrass and various spices. We regard it as a delectable “Thai” laksa at its best, definitely worth our personal two thumbs up! 😉

Crispy Fish Fillet with Mango Salad - MYR 13.80 nett. I like the mango salad but find the coating for the fish fillet to be a bit thick.

Their Chinese New Year package range start from RM188 to RM598, Nong & Jimmy don't have fancy ambience but offers good quality and delicious foods to patrons. Reasonable price and I was happy with the actual quality when I tried it. I'm really satisfied with it, aww~~ i missed the zesty, spicy, and flavorful Thai food now!

SO is On Lok Yun as much of a “MUST-VISIT” place like what everyone says? Well… If you’re intending to tour around the Chinatown area, then why not? Otherwise, if this is out of the way and you’ve difficulties in fitting this in your itinerary, I’d say skip it. The food here isn’t out of this world, just plain classic old breakfast you could really just whip up on your own, really. It’s probably just the ambience, the effort to get here, and the taste of the food that brings back the kind of homely happiness and nostalgia that keeps people coming back whenever there are in Bangkok! Hey, not forgetting they have accidentally photogenic tables too!

Rung Ruang Noodles Rungruean, 荣泰 Restaurant

The ordering can be described as a 3 step process: 1: choose your type of noodles (by pointing if you don’t know the name for it) 2: choose to have your noodles with broth or without broth (haeng), and 3: choose your level of spiciness (spicy or not). A suggestion for first timers could be to order one bowl that is spicy and without soup, and one bowl that is non-spicy but with soup.

Verdict: Although the noodles were delicious, I have to say they did not taste as fantastic as they were made out to be. Maybe because we grew up eating similar style of noodles so the experience didn’t wow us that much. Recommended only if you happen to be nearby, otherwise this is not worth a special visit. Rung Ruang is only a 5 minutes walk away from Phrom Phong BTS station.

rung rueng has been my favorite noodle shop ever since i stepped foot in thailand about 15 years ago. yes, this family run business goes back a long, long way. often times you’ll find the most unassuming crowd of thai celebrities and well known faces eating next to you or even at the same table. just keep calm and enjoy your meal.

Lastly, it is advisable that you get here by 6pm to avoid the long wait and the possibility of them selling out earlier than usual, especially if it’s a weekend. Wongwian Yai is the nearest BTS station and it takes about 5 minutes to reach here on foot.
