For the meat lovers, THIRTY8 offers Australian 'Diamantina' Red Wagyu or Black Angus Beef from Stanbroke Farms. We had the rib eye (350g, marbling score 6 - RM350), which was thoughtfully sliced for sharing. Beautifully tender, melt-in-the-mouth and flavorful meat, we certainly enjoyed this and went straight to steak heaven. So so good! I'm also eyeing the Tomahawk for my next visit, very reasonably priced at RM350 for 900g.

We enjoyed most of it, especially the Unagi Benedict. It’s essentially Egg Benedict, topped with avocado, poached eggs, barbecue Unagi and Sansho pepper. For those looking for something unique and unconventional, this is the dish for you. We liked the Japanese twist of this brunch dish. Surprisingly Unagi and egg pairs very well together. On top of that, the portion was just nice. Overall, we found this combination rich and deeply satisfying.

All the the pastas are freshly made in-house and the Spaghetti carbonara (RM55) came highly recommended. The spaghetti was cooked to al dente along with streaky beef bacon and a rich sauce made the Italian way using egg yolk and pecorino cheese. Before serving, the chef torches the Castelmagno cheese wheel before tossing the pasta and topping it with a final shaving of cheese. A plate of creamy goodness!

Nasi Goreng, 12.50 ringgit. Okay, you guys have got to agree with me that there is something special about Indonesian styled fried rice as oppose to our local fried rice. Maybe it is the oil they use? or some spices? I do not know what but whatever they use is enough to make it distinct. This was one plate of deliciousness. Soooo good! For 12.50 ringgit, you would get a plate of delicious fried rice + pork + egg + fish crackers. I just died and went to food heaven. No joke. Every mouthful was as delightful as the first. The other main was Confit of Soon Hock. I like this one better. The fish was cooked decently and flakes off well. I thought the portion was a little too small to be a main but maybe that’s an internal food cost calculation thing. I would go for this over the beef. The addition of potato balls (?) was a bit curious though. I did not think it added to the dish and the texture doesn’t go very well since both are soft.

First to arrive was the Daging Rusuk, and the staff promptly portioned it out for us and served it on our plates. Great service! The beef ribs has first been braised, then charcoal grilled, imparting a delicious smokiness to the tender meat.
