The briyani was decent. As you can see, it was made up of briyani rice + a boiled egg + chicken. The chicken was not boneless, taste pretty good though. It was not too spicy, had a good mix of flavor, could pass off as a chicken ‘parathal’. The bummer here was that I was told that I would get some raita with the briyani but I did not receive any. Good thing the briyani rice was soft and flavored enough to be eaten on its on or else I’d be somewhat pissed 😐. That being said, this briyani is priced on the cheaper side, so for what it is, it was a pretty good meal.
Overall, we all enjoyed the food here, with each of us having our own fav dish.
Ambiance: 6/10 Price: 6.5/10 Food: 7.5/10 (pork-free) Verdict: Try the fish molee, sambal ikan bilis and cutlets. Best to go slightly earlier so you get first dibs, I say. ;)
The dish comes with yellow rice + Potato Perathal? + Pork Vindaloo + Cucumber, onion in yogurt. It was yummy. The pork was tender, dense and well cooked, it broke apart pretty quickly when cut into. The vindaloo gravy was flavorful and packed with spice. Having it with some rice and soft, flavorful potatoes…. oooo, yummy!
the venerable raju banana leaf rice, but in this video we had breakfast instead.. tosai. From old review - http://kyspeaks.com/2008/06/23/ky-eats-banana-leaf-...
Pulled Pork Burger, 17 ringgit The Pulled Pork Burger is their popular/recommended dish. It was a nice, wholesome dish. The burger itself was pretty good. It came with a generous portion of flavorful shredded pork meat, a whole lot of it – yay!
I haven't tried fish puttu before.. and I really liked it! At Shobana's, they use mackarel in lieu of shark's meat, which is shredded and mixed with spices, chilli and freshly grated coconut
If the Banana Leaf Rice plus Sambal Ikan Bilis was RM12, then the four dishes would be about RM6 each. Reasonable to me.
This "Cabin-like" Cafe with lots of glass windows and greens as well.
Indian Rice Set, 7.50. The Indian Rice Set was made up of rice + curry of your choice + 3 vegetables + acar + fried coconut? + papadums. The orange bits of fried coconut was new to me. I do not think I’ve had it before but I sure did like it though, it complimented the rice well. Liked it very much that I had to request for a refill, lol. The vegetables very awesome, I especially liked the couliflower – got a refill of that too.
