Congkak @ Jalan Beremi, KL – Nasi Ambeng da bomb! Yummmm (Halal)

Nasi Ambeng for 2, 28 ringgit
The Nasi Ambeng here consisted of white rice + Acar + Serunding Kelapa + Telur Masin + Sambal Belacan + Sambal Jawa + Kerabu Sayur + Terung Sambal + Keropok Belindo + Begedil + Ikan Kembung Belado + Gulai Ayam. Between the 2 of us, it was quite a feast. We didn’t know where to start. It was soo good. There was a burst of flavors – sweet, sour, hot and spicy. The Gulai Ayam was rich and milky with tender, juicy pieces of chicken. The Tempe had the usual peculiar taste, chewyness, the grilled Ikan Kembung with chili sambal was awesome. The terung/ brinjal was soft and moist, with thick sauce. The Kerabu had nuts and some sweetness in it, chewyness from the chopped vegetables. Mix all of these ingredients together … ho ma gawd, da bomb!

Congkak KL: Serving Classic Malay and Nusantara Cuisine

Not to be missed here is the Tauhu Telur (RM25), a popular street food from East Java in Indonesia. A soft, silky smooth egg beancurd is stacked and deep fried to golden brown perfection. Additional deep fried egg threads sit atop the beancurd to give extra crunch. Julienned fresh vegetables such as cucumber and carrots as well as an appetizing sweet and savoury peanut sauce, similar to a rojak sauce completes this delicious dish. I'm so in love with this!
