I was still sober after that small glass of 38% alcohol rose wine at Sin Hiap Hin and with a bit of time to spare before my appointment with the huskies; we decided to walk over to the nearby Tofu Street Fresh Soya Bean!
Serviceable Peranakan food, tasty enough but not particularly memorable. The beef rendang was not bad, with the beef tender and rempah nice with lemongrass fragrance.
Restoran Kok Keong Melaka Famous Yam Rice will not burn a hole in your wallet and this is a nice place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. You can also walk around this place to check out the old buildings of Melaka.
Really a small cafe with about 3 tables. The cakes are pretty good.
All in all, it’s quite an interesting place to visit in small town Malacca and if you love the modern speakeasy concept, then this place is for you.
Sun Wukong RM35 – Hennessy Vs, Banana Liquer, Angostura Bitter. Our favourite cocktails on The Old Merchant Melaka ‘s menu.
My verdict? The Old Merchant is definitely a place I'd drop by if I am ever at Melaka for a drink to cool myself down. I am keen on trying more of their drinks the next time I drop by!
Reasons to visit The Old Merchant Malacca: Melaka’s first legal contemporary speakeasy; a setting full of character with lots of Instaworthy angles; genuinely friendly staff; craft cocktails that are balanced, nicely garnished and offer a range of flavours for various palates.
