In the grilled form – the salmon was so tender and juicy! The karaage was good too as batter was crunchy and chicky was tender. The set came with rice, miso soup, salad, chawanmushi, pickled veggie, tuna and fruits.
7.5/10. Overall, a solid dinner. Can’t really go wrong with this place. A really cozy ambience with high quality food. (Honestly speaking, as far as restaurants go - as in not Omakase - this is definitely on the higher range in terms of quality of salmon sashimi).
Then came the Nippori’s Style Nachos Curry Cheese Duck. This dish is large enough for two to three people sharing and is available in two different variations. Either curry cheese duck or classic chicken. We ordered the duck option. The Nachos came at the same time as the Avocado Prawn Tempura Maki, which is a deep fried prawn tempura, wrapped in sushi rice, tamagoyaki and kyuri, each carefully topped with slices of fresh avocado.
One of the recommended sets is the Grilled salmon and chicken karaage set (RM48). This came with two pieces of salmon fillet, which was nicely grilled so it was still moist with crispy skin. I love chicken karaage, and this is possibly one of the best I've tried in KL - the chicken was so juicy and the skin was deliciously crisp.
My friend ordered the salmon teriyaki set and gave me her serving of watermelon. As usual I kept one piece of salmon and almost all the rice for lunch the next day and finished the rest of the food items.
Verdict: Instead of serving the usual sushi or sashami like any other Japanese restaurants, Nippori features some of the casual home cooked dishes which are very common and popular in any Japanese family. Food wise, I can’t say their food is excellent based on my experience but I don’t mind make a return to further their menu. Service was warm and attentive and the pleasant dining environment most probably my excuse to revisit ^__^
Overall Rating: 7/10. Unfortunately for me, my meal here didn't quite felt as worthy as what my friends claimed it would be.
Mentai Udon with Mini Karaage – RM35 Their signature udon. So tasty! It was smooth and bursting with flavours from the mentai. Dry Sanuki Udon with fish roe, egg yolk, seaweed, spring onion and homemade sauce. Served hot, comes with Kobachi, fruits, miso soup and salad.
Tofu with Minced chicken Donburi RM25 (Steamed rice serve with sweet sauce chicken and raw egg/cherry tomato/spring onion) - Highly recommended
Weekend should be a leisure day and the happiest things to do on this day is to relax. Life is not about work, we need to balance it for example having a great meal. I came across this cute cozy Japanese restaurant from social media, it is a interesting place and tempting decoration, having a meal here is like dining in Japan. No joke, is true!!! This cafe named NIPPORI and is located at Empire Damansara.
We had Japanese Shaved Ice, Chocolate Strawberry Kakigori to conclude our meals. Handmade shaved ice (made from mineral water) is topped with Strawberry syrup, Strawberry cube and Chocolate. The ice itself is so soft, light and melts right in my mouth, I miss this so much right now. I want to try Strawberry Cheese Cake Kakigori on my next visit!
I feel so glad that I'm able to make it for today and try all the food the owner prepared for us. It's such an amazing experience and it's exactly how I feel when I'm in Japan. That's what I'm looking for and the owner of this place is actually the same owner of Haraju-cube. I love everything in wood themed and the color just make me feel so comfy and relaxing.
Overall review: By far one of the best Japanese cafes to visit in Klang Valley. No regret at all. High quality and fresh ingredients, delicious flavours that reminds us about our Japan trip. Service is friendly, affordable price. Total bill came to ~RM64 including GST. We will give high marks of 9.5/10 for Nippori!!! The only downside will probably be the beautiful presentation, so lovely that we couldn’t help but to take few more pictures of it for our Instagram, Facebook and blogpost. Ended up food becoming warm instead of pipping hot. Hahaha. We blame ourselves on this, definitely our fault. We will visit again when Nippori new full-fledge menu is out!
