I had the wok-fried kway teow infused with smoky wok hei with delightful crunchiness from the diced kai lan.
The fish cucumber was thoroughly braised and tender and gelatinous. The kway teow had very strong wok hei, smokiness and sweetness from the chye poh. The bee hoon was full of sweet seafood goodness. One the nicer Chinese Teochew meals I have had in a while, in a nice refurbished old shop house environment with a courtyard at the entrance.
Great place for Teochew cuisine with many authentic ingredients imported direct from ChaoshanThe teochew porridge is optionavailable during weekday lunch The restaurant menu features other classic Teochew dishes
Wow! Really gave us that "step-back-in-time" feel.
Personally I like the Teochew Tau Suan with Gingko Nuts ($5.20/each).
The restaurant is set in a heritage building with a beautiful courtyard. Operating two storeys high, Zui Yu Xuan has six private rooms on the second floor to cater to business meetings and closed-door functions.
I definitely overate and the thoughtful people at Zui Yu Xuan prepared a parting tea ceremony for us to wash down the grease.
The dishes are generally competent Teochew dishes, and prices are relatively reasonable.
If you have family gatherings or big group gatherings, this can be one of the options.
The food is delicious but I find that it has been adapted.
The authentic taste and flavour were intensified suited especially for diners who have a rich and bold palate preference. Personally, as a Teochew I love it.

Overall, we liked some items more than others during our lunch at the new Teochew restaurant Zui Yu Xuan Teochew Cuisine by the Jumbo Group.
