My eyes lit up the moment I had a spoonful. The chicken is so tender that its meatiness didn’t get to me, a fussy eater. I usually don’t like meaty chicken because the marinate doesn’t seep into the inner part of the meat, so it comes off bland and dry. Not this one. The char siew was the-right-amount charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and it freaking melts in the mouth! What is this magic?! Even the char siew from Village Roast Duck (relatively pricier restaurant) is hard and unenjoyable... I do love their duck meat and crispy pork though. The char siew chunks were thicker than my liking, but because it was so soft and I must say this again, melts in the mouth, I didn’t mind the thickness at all. Aside from the sweet glaze it was marinated with, the uncle will finish off the presentation with more sweet sauce poured onto the char siew. It’s not too sweet, but sweet enough that when mixed with the flavourful rice, it becomes addictive.
Overall, for me; this is a WanTon Mee stall which is a possible re-visit in the future.
Broth is not too coconuty nor oily and a small plate of extra sambal is provided. Great stuff, although 滑鸡 Chicken would have been perfect (Chicken floss was the replacement)!
Looking for food here at Seksyen 17 this morning, settled down at 鸿成茶餐室 Restoran Hong Seng as other shops seems not accessible at the construction site.
Tips from 食 La Vie, be patient in queuing, finding seats and parking as the Malay proverbs says; Di mana ada gula, di situ ada semut. Please do not visit the shop after 1PM. We tried once visiting the shop at 1.05PM and most of their meats are finished.
Our whole lunch meal comes to a total of RM8 per pax after divided out with 6 pax.. which is a good value and satisfy . . I would say, just attack the BBQ pork here, do try out others too if you like . . Just be there early to avoid the heavy lunch crowd at 1pm. Food Rating 7/10, quite okay ahh the bbq pork~ ~-Stamped-
The chicken was tender and flavorful, the bbq pork (charsiu) was top notch, but the real star of the show was the roast pork (siu yoke). The skin of that siu yoke is a work of art, crispy yet doesn’t break your teeth, with the pork quite subtle in taste (not having overpowering 5 spice flavor) but pairs well with their home-made chilli sauce.
The dude behind the counter had a rather pleasant look, though having to cater to so many needs within his operating hours. He looked rather composed, and served each patron with a smile.
Really seldom see any long queue for Chicken Rice in Klang Valley. So far this type of queue up normally just can see at Melaka Chicken Rice restaurant. But from what I can see here every afternoon about lunch break this place sure crowded!! Located inside the Restaurant Hong Seng at SS17, Wong Kee serve ordinary Roasted Chicken, BBQ Pork and Roasted Pork. Honestly the chicken is nothing special-tender and meaty but the sauce and the fiery hot garlic chili make it from aplate of ordinary chicken rice to extraordinary!! This is the first time I tasted such a spicy chicken rice garlic chili and I can say it is SUPER DELICIOUS!! Yummy!!
We order the char siew chicken rice which is super nice and it is my routine to have it there whenever hubby fetch me for lunch. The char siew is tender and juicy as well as it is well roasted with the aroma. It is also well coated with their own special sauce. The chicken is also super nice where it is made on spot and in less than 15 minutes, you will see the chicken is sold off. The chicken meat is served hot with the cispy skin as well. The roasted chicken is indeed a MUST in the shop. Taste: 5/5 Price: RM 5.50
Crackling skin with a dense texture of the meat underneath; the roast pork here might not be the BEST but certainly a cut above the mediocre rest.
Braised Duck I've been feeling under the weather recently hence this was lunch yesterday - a nice comfy meal of porridge and braised items. This particular stall is located within the same coffeeshop which serves yummy siu yoke.
烧肉, 烧鸡腿和鸡内脏 +饭 (RM6): 脆皮的烧肉很好吃... This is the roast pork, roast chicken drumstick and chicken giblets + Rice (RM6): the juicy roast pork with crispy skin is so yummy...
Besides meat, you can also order other food from this stall such as stewed egg, pickled vege, stewed tofu, pig intestines and duck viscera. Its simply enjoyable eating rich with so many choices of dish to eat with. This restaurant is facing an open area/field, so if you are lucky you might even get some cooling breeze while having your lunch. But if you are a HARDCORE pork-lover like my boss, you won’t need any excuses to come here would you?
