I have had this dish before and I'm afraid I was very disappointed with this one. There was no wok hei fragrance and the whole thing was just salty and flat. The beef slices were very tender but bland.
Char Kway Teow was damn good. It was the highlight of the meal compare to their signature Nasi Lemak. It’s flavourful and has an excellent smoky flavour in it. YUM!!. Char Kway Teow @ RM 19.74
Chicken Satay (RM 11.90) We ordered the satay, choose within the beef or the chicken satay, and this is something not to be missed here too. The succulent chicken meat is well marinated with flavours. Dipped them in the peanut based gravy and you will be sure to falling in love with it.
This was first time we ate at Madam Kwan’s. Obviously, nasi lemak cannot be missed. The presentation looked very pretty. However, the curry chicken was a letdown. I got the feeling it was cooked in the central cookhouse and then brought to the restaurant. Very ordinary. Rice was fragrant without the overpowering coconutty taste.
I have always been a great fan of Madam Kwan's, especially their Nasi Lemak. I am here again at their 1-Utama outlet and for a change a friend recommended that I try the Nasi Bojari instead. Now I have two favourites at Madam Kwan's
Overall: Service was atrocious! The food was delicious (and spicy), but the experience was quite a let down because the servers were so awful at their jobs.
