The food was not only beautifully presented but also delicious. It may be a little pricy, but if you're seeking a break from the urban chaos and simply want to enjoy a relaxing meal, The Brewing Ground is a top choice for us.
The Brewing Ground is not that easy of a place to get to, but it has some great reviews, so we had a car for the day and decided to try it out.
When the weather’s good, lotsa people or those with pets like to sit al-fresco. Yesterday it was drizzling so everyone huddled indoors.
The cream puff looks different – very regularly shaped. The place looks different. Just like any other old school cafe now. Coffee and cream puff taste good though.
CMC or Chin Mee Chin Confectionery along East Coast Road is an iconic coffeeshop for kaya toast and coffee and other treats.
Have you missed the nostalgic kaya toasts and bakes from Chin Mee Chin? They’ve reopened at their OG spot along East Coast Road! Read more.
BeBe’s undetermined birthday @ Shao on Frankel Avenue was wonderful fun, and a wonderful meal. So family oriented and friendly - staff amazing with food so masterful and delicious - must try on East Coast!!!
Shao BBQ Restaurant on Frankel Avenue is a new place from a top Chef, Jack Ding. Coming from UK where he studied and set 1st restaurant up - incredible.
I will be back at Shao to try other dishes and will have encores of the Marinated Chilled Roe Crab, Oyster Porridge with Sotong Sausage and Luffa Pancake.
It’s no secret I relied heavily on Google reviews nowadays and when I found out that there’s a Taiwanese restaurant, Isshin Machi (no, not ...
Isshin Machi 一心一町 has an outlet at greenwood avenue which is in the Bukit Timah area. I know they have another outlet at GRID but so glad I can go here for lunch.
I always need to try the Lu Rou Fun and theirs is smooth, not too fatty and enough sauce to cover the rice nicely. Very tasty.
The Seng Kee Mee Sua is traditional Mee Sua at its finest, the ingredients are powerfully strong but with a delicate finesse in its creation
I was more interested in trying the #20 item on the list: the chives with bean sprouts on the right. To my surprise, it was bit sweet, which if you know me, is not a good thing.
Beach Road Prawn Noodle House 美芝律大虾面 is one of the most famous hae mee shops in Singapore. We went to have prawn mee lunch at East Coast Road recently in 2022 to see how things have changed since our last post in 2015.
I have not been to Beach Road Prawn Mee on East Coast Rd in such a long time. When I first came to Singapore in 2006, it was one of the first places that was introduced to me. It has to be at least 8 years since I have been here.
Beach Road Prawn Mee serves up an amazing bowl of prawn noodles – the broth was robust, the prawns were crunchy, and the pork ribs were super tender.
Famous Eunos Bak Chor Mee is in one of the Eunos MRT coffeeshops and was a nice quick bowl of comfortable noodles.
The noodles were springy and firm, tossed to al dente, but slippery - almost like slurping a bowl of Ramen in Japan!
One of the best soup Bak Chor Mee I have had, this is one stall I will be back again.
The laksa was really creamy, lemak and fragrant, with nice dredges, fresh and sweet prawns, and smooth and bouncy bee hoon. The laksa gravy was really layered, balanced, sweet and drinkable; not spicy at all. The bee hoon was smooth and bouncy. Really enjoyable.
The Place Just like most famous restaurants in the world, there are many spin-offs of Katong Laksa, with the original well-known Katong Laksa being Janggut Laksa currently located at Roxy Square. I…
George’s Katong Laksa is considered one of the best Laksas in Singapore. I hadn’t tried it until a friend asked me to meet her there for it.
The food's good, but be prepared to fork out some dough for it.
I really like the Mash Avocado Sopes ($20 for 3). I first tried Sopes earlier this year in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
Comida Mexicana brings you with authentic Mexican food. It is a great place to hangout with friends, and even suitable to host private function/ event.
Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at Cafe De Nicole’s Flower, although price wise, it is a little on the steep side.
Cafe De Nicole’s Flower’s most exceptional trait is not the menu but the charming venue.
Cafe De Nicole’s Flower faces a tough road ahead.
Seng Coffee Bar is a new cafe in an old building along Changi Road. Coffee above average but the creative latte art made them more enjoyable!
Our favourite was definitely the Pork Belly Risotto, though the other mains were pretty good as well.
I’ll definitely be back to try out the different items on the menu, maybe on payday or for a birthday celebration because it’s rather pricy.
I sincerely hope that Mui Lan and her family would be able to keep the business going for many more years to come.
These are some of the best curry puffs you can get your hands on and they were created right here on our little Red Dot!
Their crispy curry puffs are delicious. If you really must have eggs and toast, they have a breakfast set for you too.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
I highly recommend heading down there for their Beef Wellington, especially if you have not tried it before.
Overall, I am more than satisfied with the dishes I tried when I was there.
The Katong and Joo Chiat areas are teeming with cafes. It is kind of becoming hard to differentiate one from another, but this latest cafe does stand out from the rest in terms of its offerings.
Good Chai People also currently allows for private events booking with the GCP team providing venue and menu for company dinners and private parties with customizable themes and elaborate buffet setups.
Sip on over 10 types of spiced tea at Good Chai People, the very first chai-focused cafe in Katong, Singapore.
The dish paste in the yong tau foo was 真材实料 but a bit floury and soft, and I thought a bit too soggy and watery from being boiled too long. The abacus was very good and clean-tasting, having a glutinous texture but springy, with a subtle sweet yam flavour lifted by the fragrant savoury topping of bits of fried garlic, shallot, dried shrimp, dried cuttlefish, salted fish.
Homely, comforting Hakka dishes like house made yong tau foo, fishballs, abacus seed, and steamed clams in a nostalgic simple family run restaurant.
Their signature is Hakka style Yong Tau Foo that consists of a limited selection of just 7 items.
new Simplicité Café at Changi Road does the simple things well - pleasant space, good friendly service, good food at a good price.
The themed cafe has seen a revamp recently and it is nothing short of amazing. S
The her kiao had a nice, thick, gelatinous and slightly sticky skin, with a nicely seasoned meat filling within. The fishballs and fish cakes were springy and juicy, and the soup was old school light and sweet.
Head to Chao Yang Fishball Noodle (潮阳手工鱼丸粿条面汤) early for their excellent fishball noodles. Must order their fish dumplings!
I would highly recommend trying the Her Kiao here.
Doong Ji Resturant East Coast Road Review
As constant hunters of good jjajangmyeon in Singapore, we have to say that Doong Ji’s definitely made it onto our list with their take on this traditional Korean favourite.
Doong Ji impressed me with its focus on serving delectable authentic Korean cuisine. If I happened to be in the area and has the Korean food craving, I might just pop right back in!
Breakfast Grill is good breakfast and brunch spot in East Coast for yummy sammies, very good coffee and premium ice cream too.
Superb food and a relaxing ambiance, Breakfast Grill is definitely one of the most ideal spots for breakfast and lunch in the east. Will I travel for an hour to get there just to snag one of their sandwiches? Anything for Breakfast Grill.
