Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Ishin Japanese Dining at Jalan Kelang Lama and not forgetting their friendly service. We enjoyed the sashimi and the teppanyaki and for the pricing, it is typical KL pricing. Our review is based on the food we ordered during our dinner.

Taste Minu Chawan Mushi (RM 22) Served in the egg shells, the chawanmushi comes beautiful and insta-friendly too. Enjoy the 3 types of chawanmushi here where we have the uni, tobiko and caviar chawanmushi. Velvety soft egg with the aromatic egg fragrance. Delicious!
Asari Hoiru Butter Yaki This mediocre looking dish was a gem! Immerse in an uplifting olfactory experience upon unveiling what's hidden underneath the aluminium foil. The soup was so fragrant we could almost felt it on our tongue. Taking a sip brought us to paradise. The clear soup was sweet, but not in an artificial manner, attributed by the freshness of the seafood, and ended with an interesting buttery taste, which was quite unexpected of any Japanese cuisine. One sip would definitely have you longing for more.
Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant has been around for almost 3 years. Serving delicious and authentic Japanese cuisine at an affordable price using the top ingredients whilst some are even flown in directly from Japan. Spacious restaurant which is perfect for a get together, or family gatherings in the private room.
The KIMI-YA Special Roll is also one of my favorite dish on that day. The rolls are made of avocado, omelette and cucumber roll with garlic mayonnaise sauce on seared tuna and black caviar topping. The avocado and cucumber roll brought out the flavor of the seared tuna and caviar very well and the savory taste from the garlic mayonnaise sauce pairs nicely with the sweetness of the avocado. I would definitely order this again next time.
这个用椰子装的Otak-otak seafood (RM25), 用Otak-otak和海鲜一起煮,很特别,别有另一番风味。
总结来说在这里吃泰国餐除了有的吃东西也有不同特色的房子设计看也算不错
9/10 STarss... Taste Of Heaven I've eaten BBQ Thai more then eating rices in my life and this place is seriously one stop to heaven . BBQ Thai become one of rif’s favorite places to go to when he’s craving Thai food – BBQ Thai is known for its Thai street food and grilled items like pork neck and squid.
For sashimi lover, you won’t be complaining the freshness of the seafood here and we hope they still offer this. Love every piece of seafood sashimi on this platter. It is served cold, the texture is good, the taste is still fresh and it is awesome when you dipped on to light soy sauce and real wasabi.
No Japanese meal is complete without a dose of mentaiko, so an order of Mentaiko-Seared Tamadon @ RM14.90 is a must. Four thick slices of fluffy-sweet tamago, blanketed by savoury-creamy mentaiko that's blowtorched to smoky perfection and (this time) even finished with a sprinkling of salty furikake for an absolutely yummy combination of savoury-creamy-sweet flavours. Kids would adore this...as would (some) adults! ^.^
Most of what we had here were thoroughly enjoyable (some outstanding, very few misses)....plus the hits far outweigh the misses, so this place continues to please us with their fresh, decent tasting and affordably-priced Japanese food. More visits to come, for sure! ^_*
We enjoyed the food here and this is definitely one of the best Korean BBQ restaurants in town. The owners are friendly but it is a bit warm in the restaurant. Finding parking can be a challenge on top of the long queue. You should visit Restoran Seoul Taman at Danau Desa if you are Korean BBQ lover.
整体来说我还算喜欢这里的食物的,价钱和普通的韩国烤肉店差不多,朋友所说的缺点我一点也没有感受到,虽然烤肉没有他们所形容的肉汁会喷出来那么神,不过还是算很不错的。
Dae Ji Gal Bi was delicious too. Pork spare ribs marinated with traditional Korean recipe. Dae Ji Gal Bi @ RM 30
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for their laksa, chicken chop and homely baked goods! 😋😋😋
[Pork-free, Muslim friendly] The Laksa Sarawak and Laksa Malaysia here is one of the best we had -they come with a huge tiger prawn.
It's been a while since I had Sarawak laksa (RM13.90) so I went for that. The broth was very good. It comes with the thick meehoon, beansprouts, omelette, prawns, chicken, and coriander that comes with a traditional bowl of Sarawak laksa, plus some extras such as tofu pok and fishballs.
One of the most affordable Hi Tea in town, Encore offers 3-tiers high tea stand, together with a pot of tea of your choice at only RM50! And this can feed 2-3 pax! And this is really a steal ENCORE HI TEA SET RM50 for 2 Available Daily 12pm – 7pm
Take this High Tea Set for instance, enjoy morsels of sweet and savoury items placed over 3-tiers high tea stand, together with a pot of tea at only RM50. Definitely a good value set with no compromise over quality. Available daily from 12PM – 7PM.
The croissant was buttery and flaky. Good to have with butter and jam.
HOJICHA SOUFFLÉ (MYR 19) Served with salted caramel or osmanthus maple syrup, and a choice of grapefruit or honeydew calamansi sorbet. You need to enjoy it as soon as it is served, otherwise the bakery will settle down rather quickly. After all, it’s soufflé- an egg-based dish that made with mainly beaten egg whites!
除了好吃又美美的desserts之外,他们也有serve hot food 但是选择不多;有基本的pasta & sandwich
Vanilla Souffle is as light as a cloud and undeniably delicious. It will be served with a choice of sorbet and syrup. We choose to go with their Osmamthus Maple and Honeydew Calamansi Sobret. They have 3 choices of syrup: Osmamthus maple, Salted Caramel, Orange and 2 choices of Sorbet: Grapefruit and Honeydew Calamansi.
The main star of the menu seemed to be the handmade pasta, so we ordered that for what was supposed to be late tea but turned into an early dinner. For its price, given how it’s made from scratch, I’d say it’s worth the buck, as other cafes charge just as much for commercial pasta anyway.
We loved how smooth the soft serve was – it wasn’t too icy as well.
The fresh pasta was definitely the highlight of the visit - the springiness is a quality that only occurs in fresh pasta and the tagliatelle definitely did its job to cling to all the saucy arrabiata. The arrabiata sauce had a nice consistency but was a bit mild for me and could've been better seasoned. The seafood was fresh and there was a rather generous portion of it.
Simple but satisfying, this place is somewhat of a budget checkpoint as well with meat pieces starting from about RM8 and most of them is at RM10 per serving.
Overall the meal was an enjoyable one without any hiccups. Although we felt like we ate a lot, the final bill came to only RM62, not bad at all considering the amount of dishes we ordered.
TweetEmailGerai Makan Japanese BBQ 大众烧肉 is a hidden gem tucked away at the back alley of Plaza Faber at Taman Desa. This Japanese BBQ stall is run and managed by the same people who own Sanuki Udon. The menu is pretty simple with items like pork (pork belly, pork shoulder loin, pork tongue, pork innards), …
When it comes to Thai Green Curry, I usually like the gravy thick and packed with flavors. The one served here sure did deliver. The gravy was flavorful, the distinctive taste of green curry was evident here. It came with a generous portion of chicken meat, brinjal and long beans. It was yummy, I enjoyed myself. Burp!
Kha Moo (RM15). Hubby's stewed pork leg with 5 spices added on with a bowl of rice. Just nice for a one person meal he said. The pork was very flavorful and tender in texture.
It started raining as soon as we arrived at the restaurant... perfect weather for a bowl of piping hot tom yum. The menu here comprises of salads, noodles, fried rice, Thai-pas, main courses and drinks. Service is friendly and prompt, with food served within 15 minutes of us placing our order.
Overall, Koyaku Japanese Dining & Grill Faber offers good quality Japanese food with service. Please book your table as it is fully booked during weekend and public holidays.
Meanwhile, my girl friend and I both ordered the Yakiniku Don (RM26) which took super long to arrive - we had to remind them as the tables around us had already ate their food and have left even though we ordered first. Thankfully, when it finally arrived, it tasted good - thin slices of beef with onions topped on rice, along with a cute mini-sized fried quails egg. All the dons came with a miso soup.
This restaurant is so fantastic that it not only serves the authentic Japanese food but also the overall interior decorations are very unique and patriotic.
My Personal Opinion Service aside, the food was still good though prices are notably higher than Momotalo. Since the beef didn't shine, I'll probably skip that and just concentrate on the seafood and pork. Your opinion will probably be swayed by the mostly Japanese clientele you see frequenting this place but I actually prefer Momotalo for the beef and service. The one thing I did like over Momotalo is the brightness, cleanliness and availability of partitioned spaces for a more private dining. The place does deserve a revisit if I want a mainly seafood (and pork) BBQ though I'd rather give the one in Desa Sri Hartamas a try instead of this one...just to see if there is any notable difference. In the end, did it endear me as much as Momotalo did? Probably not! ^_~
Overall, we are quite happy with our meal here. If you are around Old Klang Road and are looking for a good Japanese BBQ Restaurant, this is the place for you. You should not have any trouble looking for parking as there are ample parking space here.
We also had the Horumon combination platter of under tongue meat, prime beef tongue and pillar tripe @ RM38.16. They are marinated in salt and pepper, and are recommended to be dipped into the lemon juice to counter the saltiness. The thinly sliced beef tongues had a unique tender and chewy texture that I personally love.
For fans of Korean BBQs, this is certainly a place to consider for reasonably priced BBQ meats with a twist of wrapping your meat in juicy apple slices. Overall taste was definitely respectable although I can't say if I tasted any difference in the meat being marinated overnight in apple sauce for 24 hours! >_< If you want to eat here, get ready to be drenched in sweat as the place is freakin' warm...even inside the air-conditioned restaurant. The place is open with far too few air-conditioner units to be able to cool the place down. So, it makes little difference if you opt for seats inside or outside...it's still hot! I can just imagine those eating bowls of hot ramyun and sweating bucket loads. So, make sure you have your hair up (ladies and some gentlemen) and wear something minimal light and comfortable when you head here for your "free sauna"...kikiki! :D
Special attention is that the store does not accept the appointment, we directly on the line Walk In on the line!
A great Korean BBQ joint, speciality being the pork (belly, sausage, ribs) which is firstly marinated with apples then cooked over the bbq using apple wood.
Moving on, my personal favourite for the night has to be Pork Hamburg Curry Stew, priced at RM 32 only. It arrived swimming in a puddle of sweet-savoury and slightly spicy Japanese Curry Sauce with a poached egg.
My favourite is the Kushiyaki offering which is a great starter dishes and one of the most perfect dish that can be paired with an order of the Sake. Freshly grilled, and with a dash of salt, it is just addictive to be eaten right from the skewers, Among my favorite are the Chicken Wings, Chicken Gizzard, Pork Belly and Leek. Prices start from RM4++.
The Teppan Asian Beef Striploin is worth the order as they brings you with the tender-licious and juicy meat which is definitely worth to go for. The striploin comes simply juicy and each mouthful is irrestible and delicious. We are really amazed about it and totally in love with the juicy meat.
Irish Coffee, 18 ringgit. Now, this drink I can recall pretty well. It was yummy 🙂 soooooo yummy! It was thick, creamy, bitter, a tad sweet – all in one. Basically, it was a combination of hot coffee + irish whiskey + sugar + cream. Imagine sipping this blend on a rainy day, soooo nice. I visited this cafe at when it was not crowded, I basically had the place to my self, had my laptop on, sipping on this yummy cup of coffee, listening to some soothing music on the audio. I had a good time, a chilled out and relaxed time.
A warm and cozy neighbourhood cafe with japanese concept, famed for its coffee. Grab a book and enjoy your late evening here with their cuppa or some cakes.
One of the recommended cafe by my caffeine addicted friends, affordable hand-brewed coffee, friendly peoples and great ambiance~ Worth a revisit if I happen to be at that area. (Too far from my place, will not purposely make a trip here to be honest .
Nasi lemak - I chose to have long beans, curry potatoes, wild boar curry and small prawns curry with one whole hard boiled egg at MYR 8 nett. I didn't select popular toppings like squid curry, chicken curry and cockles curry.
I can recalled the following: 蝦麵 Har Mee, 板麵 Pan Mee, 爪哇麵 Jawa Mee, 娘惹椰漿飯 Nyonya Nasi Lemak, 素雜飯 Vegetarian mixed rice, 雲吞麵 Wanton Mee, 豬肉粉 Pork noodle; may around 8 hawker stalls.
This means, in addition to fluffy grains of coconut milk rice, spicy-savory sambal, crispy ikan bilis (larger in size than the usual variety), you will also be offered some of her signature pickled pineapple and cucumber relish, which is utterly addictive — so good you can eat it on its own. But what sets Karen’s nasi lemak apart from the rest is the option to add a side of dry curried wild boar. Hardly the most common in town, much less paired with nasi lemak, the wild boar is succulent without being overly gamey, and thanks to the right mix of rempah rendang (Malay curry spices). Don’t forget to tapao (take away) some Nyonya kuih for tea later in the day.
Pulled Pork Sliders, 26 ringgitWhat can I say except that it taste as good as it looks. Got you all salivating, didn’t I? Yup, we are in the same predicament, buddy. I’ve had it and yet, I’m still salivating. The pork meat was da bomb and the dish as a whole was refreshing. The pulled pork is apparently slow cooked for over 8 hours – I guess that explains how they somehow achieved the perfect equilibrium between chewy-ness and softness – the ‘falls of the bone’ kind. I loved this dish. I wouldn’t mind heading back here for this exact dish again. Truly.
I heard about this new cake place so I went and takeaway a few slices of cakes
