What do We Like about Purple Cane Tea Cuisine, The Gardens Mall? -Tea infused soup served in a tea pot and drink with tea cup -Variety of set meals to choose from
One of the signature for the restaurant is this Black Tea Curry Lions Mane Mushrooms. The curry is not too thick, yet you would easily need to bowl of rice for this. So easy to eat, super mild spicy with mild creamy. Instead of santan the replace it with Almond milk.
This looks nice doesn't it? It even has two large pieces of Huai Shan (淮山 - wild yam) which I thought was daikon until I bite into them.
Salt Steamed Chicken in Chinese Herbs (Dong Ding) Salted chicken were marinated for 45 minutes, steamed with mixed herbs and tea. The taste may slightly salty, but the taste of medicinal herbs and tea aroma will linger and stay in your mouth. The added tea leave can reduce the greasiness of the dish.
This time I have no idea what to order so ended up ordering just two tea eggs (MYR 3.90++ = MYR 4.52 nett) and a bowl of brown rice (MYR 4++ = MYR 4.64 nett) making it a total of MYR 9.16 nett just for eggs and rice which I can prepare at home even for someone who does not cook. I guess this is not a good choice too. The tiny deep fried anchovies were from my friend's fried rice which she gave to me because of their tiny eyes staring at her.
I ordered "Pan Fried noodle with grouper fish slices and prawns in tea sauce" for MYR 23.90++ (0% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 27.90 nett). The portion of noodle was huge with a few slices of fish but only 2 prawns. I kept half the noodle for dinner. While the noodles are acceptable and I know slices of grouper fish and prawns are supposed to be expensive but I think I won't be ordering this dish again due to its price because to pay almost MYR 30 for just a plate of noodles with some fish slices and 2 prawns is not worth it
This is my order - Fried Lei Cha Rice - MYR 13.90++ (MYR 16.20 nett). I kept half of it for dinner. It was quite tasty with pine nuts. I could not taste anything in it that resembles Lei Cha which I have eaten before but my friend who ate some said she detected Basil taste in it.
