What do We Like about Purple Cane Tea Cuisine, The Gardens Mall? -Tea infused soup served in a tea pot and drink with tea cup -Variety of set meals to choose from
One of the signature for the restaurant is this Black Tea Curry Lions Mane Mushrooms. The curry is not too thick, yet you would easily need to bowl of rice for this. So easy to eat, super mild spicy with mild creamy. Instead of santan the replace it with Almond milk.
This looks nice doesn't it? It even has two large pieces of Huai Shan (淮山 - wild yam) which I thought was daikon until I bite into them.
The Hi-Tea Dim Sum set is available on weekdays (excluding Public Holidays) from 2pm to 4pm and includes delicate handmade dim sum and a delicious Bird's Nest dessert. Priced at RM98 for 2 pax, the set also comes with your choice of two drinks (choice of juice, soft drinks, coffee or tea).
Crab with glorious roe, aptly named Steamin Crabilicious. Priced at RM108 per portion, this plate of decadence is a must have. Marine drippings over a layer of chicken pate with salted fish, (replacing the usual pork) glutinous rice, this alone would have filled us up.
Flower Pillow Matcha (MYR 38) Matcha Infused Tofu With Caviar, Salmon Roe And Fragrant Oats. You just can't go wrong with this! The hint of subtle green tea flavour is well complimented by the ikura especially, that helps to inject some oceanic nuance to it that at one point of time, it tastes almost similar to seaweed flavour to me. Impressive? Call it magic by Yu by Ruyi then! (=
Deep fried mackerel. I find the pieces of fish to be quite thin.
The yam paste is very thick and soft so I like it. The duck meat sandwiched inside the yam paste does not have a strong duck taste so my friend finds the taste of this dish to be boring with no kick to it but I like the mellow flavour. A small clove found its way into my mouth and the clove taste lingers on.
trotter jelly dish MYR15.90++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR18.44 nett). The jelly is not those wobbly type but is quite solid in texture and is filled with pieces of pork rind. Initially I was afraid that the porky taste would be too strong so I was pleased when it wasn't and when I ate it with the chili paste on top, the chili covered all the porky taste so it was delicious. Furthermore it was not cold so customers who are not used to eating cold savoury dish could eat this dish without any issues.
This time, I ordered a basket of 10 Xiao Long Bao and gave 3 to my friend who ordered a bowl of plain white rice and Ginseng Chicken Soup.
This is the plate of crunchy cucumber - if I remember correctly there are 10 pieces so it is about MYR 1.219 nett per piece. My friend likes to eat them so I agree to share the cost with her. They have been marinated in very light soy sauce. The two saucers of julienned gingers are provided foc once customers are seated at the table, even before orders are placed.
6 xiao long bao at MYR 14.5+ (MYR 15.37 nett). It is better value for money to buy the 10 xiao long bao at MYR 23.20+ (MYR 24.60 nett) but we did not want to eat that many bao since it was only two of us so we settled for 6 instead.
Dim Sum at The Han Room might be slightly expensive but it is worth the visit. We definitely come back for more dim sum for sure.
Serving varieties of dishes inspired by Chinese Cuisine History with influences of global trends and flavors. Another great spot for dim sum lovers.
Early morning at 10 am, we wanted to eat at the newly renovated Sushi Zanmai at the Gardens Mall but there were only two chefs working and no waiting staff to be seen so we did not go enter the restaurant because the ambiance was not friendly at all. We ended up having dim sum at The Han Room which is located near to Sushi Zanmai. Dim sum is served in The Han Room on Sunday and public holidays only. The waiting staff will push a cart with hot dim sum steaming away in bamboo baskets to your table for you to take your pick. There is also a menu for food items not served by the cart and you can order from that menu too.
The kids couldn't get enough of the Cheese-baked rice with chicken cutlet (RM22.80) - we love the cheese, so rich and good, they said! The chicken cutlet, which is similar to chicken katsu was moist and juicy with a nice golden, crispy exterior.
So for those of you who would like to have some different cuisines, try some of these yunmy Hong Kong cuisine at EATZ@HongKong… You won’t regret it.. It is seriously somewhere I will go back to for more…
Mala Spicy Fishball in Dry Noodle (RN15.80) – Dry Nissin Noodle with Mala Spicy Fishball which I enjoyed a lot with a side of steamed vegetables.
Wanton noodles with braised beef and a bowl of wanton noodles with char siew and siew yuk. The char siew has a nice coconut caramelized taste.
So we went to Canton-i and ordered the above food for two pax. Needless to say I was stuffed to the brim.
Prawns Wanton Noodle (Soup) at MYR 15.09++ (MYR 17.50 nett). Thin and springy noodles in flavourful soup. Looking back at the price of Sheng Kee prawns wanton noodle (soup) back in 2017, I am surprised to find that it is almost the same which means this price is not high after all.
The ribs are well marinated with herbs so they are delicious without any oink oink taste.
We ordered the pork chop rice lunch set which includes the main meal, a drink and a side dish which turned out to be ladyfingers. The sauce for the pork chop is sweet marmite which I like. I was surprised to see fries served with rice so I ate the fries while my spouse ate the rice
Zun express at Midvalley Mall. CNY set lunch for 2 pax at MYR 56.80++ (MYR 65.57 nett). Add 2 hard boiled eggs for MYR 1.20++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 1.40 nett) each.
What do We Like about Village Roast Duck? -Tasty signature roast duck and sinchew mee hoon
Nasi Lemak Chicken Curry at MYR 8.75 nett with a drink. There is one piece of chicken breast meat and one piece of potatoes in the curry. Taste acceptable.
This plate of quarter roast chicken costs MYR 1.80 nett only. We topped up MYR 1 nett to get chicken leg but my friend at another table did not top up but still got a whole chicken leg. This promotion is available on the 18th of every month till further notice.
Set E from "I love yoo" kiosk at Midvalley mall at MYR 17.90 nett which consist of a glass of soy drink (hot or cold), you tiao (cruller), a bowl of plain congee and one whole steamed herbal chicken leg with a strong Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis) taste which I like. We dipped the you tiao in congee and also in the soy drink but not in both at one time.
"Nian Gao" - 年糕 (chinese new year sticky cake) is made from glutinous rice flour and brown sugar. It is usually eaten during chinese new year but deep fried nian gao can be found sold in hawker stalls all year round. The "I love you" kiosk in the Midvalley mall sells deep fried nian gao now so we bought one to try at MYR2.40 nett.
We always buy the chee cheong fun with 5 pieces of YTF set with curry gravy because we prefer to eat chee cheong fun than rice even though the price for the rice set is lower than the ccf set.
