Overall, dining here is really nice. Service is good, environment is nice, food serving is fast and food is good too.
Food serve here is a combination of Western and Asian. I tried their Tom Yam Udon which is something special where Japanese Udon mix with Thai Tomyam. The tomyam is not spicy but it has its tomyam taste to it and it goes surprisingly well with the Udon. The other food that i tried is their Chicken Chop with a lot of gravy on top, some fries and salad at the side.
Taman Bakap Indah, Jawi Penang is a place of hidden gem that is packed with nice street food, especially the Saturday night market. Some of the stalls here started to operate at 11 am. The popiah is juicy and oozy. The yam bean is soaked with the flavors of the gravy while the chili paste makes the taste elevate to another level. The laksa here has been selling for decades and the taste is thick and appetizing. Different from Penang Island they serve with crackers and bean curd. The soy milk and jelly bean curd here always selling fast as the soy milk is very fresh and thirst quenched.
My favorite dish here is their Creamy Tomyam with Mushroom, i would say that this is a must try dish if you are a tomyam lover. It is made from Spaghetti with a lot of Mushroom and creamy Tomyam. The tomyam taste is strong but not spicy. Though it may sound weird mixing Asian Tomyam with Western Spaghetti but these two combination mix well together.
Valdor Ai Xuan Tomyam Mee 爱碹夜市海鲜粥 is one of the places near Batu Uban, Penang that see reasonable yet flavourful Tomyam and also porridge. The ingredients in the Tomyam and Porridge are self pick while the noodle also having a few options. The thick and nice Tomyam soup is an addiction for those that visited this place before.
V1 Susu, also known as We want Susu. Is the treading place for a mug of good milk and others. This shop is hidden from the main road and need to drive into the kampung (rural) area. The milk here is fresh from the farm and the taste is creamy and aromatic. My personal preference is the original flavor. The 4 flavored drink (四大天王) is also one of the yummy drinks available here in V1 Susu. The best part is the ingredients in the drink is secret recepie while you need to try out yourself for the rest of the flavor beside the one that can be seen.
Overall, the food here is just average and the serving size is small. What i like about Yi Floor Cafe is the nice calming environment here and their good service, oh and not forgetting their ICE Blended Coconut which is refreshing. The rice is not my favorite, its hard.
What i like about J7 Kitchen and Bar is their menu has a lot of food to choose from, will come back to try some others of their food here.
We opted for Teo Chew-styled Steamed Pomfret and the result was amazing. The sauce had a balanced medley of sour, spicy and salty notes; it was clear, clean without burdening the fish... and yes, the fish was very fresh
Back to the Tosai Stall, (also have Indian Economy Beehoon, and Nasi Lemak), which is accompanied by the most wonderful Fish curry sauce (No fish serve). To day I Had some Half Boil eggs as well. Oh yes do go early, if late, may be sold out.
