Kiara Cakes has to compete with KoFi by 77 and Copenhagen Coffee that are steps away. Though Kiara Cakes’ food menu is very limited, its selection of sweets and pastries is miles ahead of the other two cafes. All of their cakes looked tempting and weren’t the same old flavours I have seen a hundred times at other cafes. Kiara Cakes is now on my list of options for the next time I’m craving a drink and a snack.

Mont Kiara is a bit out of the way from central KL, and I wouldn’t recommend travelling out there for this. However, if you’re nearby and have exhausted your usual places, it might be worth your while.

[Pork-free] Don’t be a rookie, have a Brookie. Brookie (brownie + cookie) is soft and chewy, with gooey choc chips inside.

Lavender Chocolate Cake with Earl Grey Buttercream, 14.90 ringgit Anyways, when I decided to give this particular cake a go, I was not expecting all the flavors – lavender, chocolate and earl grey to be evident. In a lot of cases, you’d be able to taste some of the flavors but not every single one. So, I kindda went along with that thought pattern but I sure was surprised. First mouth in, I tasted lavender and chocolate and then, while you are biting into it and savoring, the distinct taste of earl grey makes its appearance. I liked it. I especially liked it even more after it has been in room temperature for a while – the buttercream get creamier? Yea, at this point, the Lavender and Earl Grey combination was more prominent. It was da bomb. Having it with the thick, moist chocolate cake was heaven.

Versatile Viking, 18 ringgit. The Versatile Viking is a perfect dish to start the day with. If someone where to make this for me at least one a week, for breakfast – I’d certainly go for it. Banana on rye, with some honey to smooth it all together – yummy. Then, indulge in some yogurt + cereal and blueberries – yup, definitely a good dish to start the day 🙂

Kopenhagen Chick @ RM 28 – a danish classic with poach chicken breast, mushroom, asparagus, and taragon mix secret sauce. This will be my first most expensive sandwich on my order. Chicken is soft and not too bad, yet the secret sauce is quite unique that you will have hint of tumeric and indian spices or curry powder. Personally thing that, it is on the high side for such sandwich.

Known to be a good place for instagram, and coffee of course, I must also compliment the very grammable cups and glasses for the beverages. Vanity aside, Denmark tea is very much a delight with combinations of flowers and leaves that’s soothing and calming. It pairs incredibly well with my tasty slice of carrot cake. Despite my skepticism for carrot cakes, I always end up ordering this whenever and where ever. Deep down, it is probably to convince myself that I would one fine day find the one that would blow me away. But no, I did not find that here. But I wouldn’t hesitate repeating this move at Kopenhagen, because it was good for the price so I have no complains.

The opening of Kopenhagen has attracted so many coffee lovers that it goes really crowded especially in weekend afternoon. We only managed to secure a seat after two visits. It was 2PM. So happy that it was half emptied when we walked in.
