[Pork-free] We like that third wave (or is it fourth wave?) cafes have reached the old parts of PJ (i.e. Old Town and the surrounding area on this side of the Fed Highway). Fade by SB is one of them.

Overall, we were very pleased with our meal. Max is happy to report that the duck rice still tasted good after so many years, and this was a wonderful discovery for Ming.

Overall, we enjoyed the pastries and food in Restoran Sri Karak and PJ New Town. Visited them for the past 17 years and they remained consistent on their food quality and taste. If you never visited Restoran Sri Karak, you can check them out at PJ New Town.

I liked the fried noodles the best. It had a rather unusual but appealing flavor. The dish originally comes in wet form, Cantonese style. I wasn’t in the mood for wet noodles and requested for a dry version, which they were nice enough to accommodate. The dry version, still came with a little gravy at the bottom but just enough to provide the noodles with some texture – thick, sticky, gooey feel. That gravy though – it was ginger-ish. I usually am not a fan of anything ginger, I simply do not like the overwhelming flavor but here, it somehow worked. It still was the first thing you’d taste but I guess the fact that it was mixed with the gravy that had on several other items, made it tolerably appealing. I liked the extra ‘kick’ the noodles offered.

Kam Heong Chicken Rice, 11.20 ringgit. Kam Heong Chicken Rice seemed to be a favorite because several tables ordered it. I can understand why – it sure was delicious. Do note that there were plenty of lemongrass bits in there – if you are not a fan, perhaps requesting for a toned down version would help. The Kam Heong dish is not your usual one, the one served here is more wetter? Curry-ish? and add in those lemongrass – it was different. No less yummy though. Plenty of meaty chicken meat. Perfect for a tummy filling meal

In the evening, Kam Heong Coffee Shop in PJ New Town serves Teo Chew style braised duck and pork trotters but in the afternoon, it has a few stalls that sell noodles and roast meat with rice. We were there one afternoon for lunch and these are the food we ate:
