A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
12 reviews of Far East Plaza "Back in the day when I used to live in Singapore, this place was a fucking dump. It was kind of dirty and pretty much a cesspool full of shops selling cheap, crappy shit (although it had a decent food court upstairs,…
Overall, the service is efficient. Food prices may be a little steep but in terms of standard and quality, its commendable. Since there are a number of outlets, I do not mind revisiting for Thai Cuisine at any of their restaurant.
Finally trying out Maddie’s Kitchen! They are a hidden gem providing reasonably priced zi char meals on Level 2 of Far East Plaza.
Indeed, the best part about this place is how deliciously savory things like that kangkung were. It was the best item that I had today.
Overall, Maddie’s Kitchen offers premium zi char dishes at affordable price points, which might be great for those looking for a pocket-friendly meal after a day out shopping in Orchard.
The beef hor-fun was stir-fried with bittergourd and salted black beans. It was delicious.
This was really very good zi char, with one of the most refined oyster omelettes I have eaten. So much so that they had expanded from a smaller to a bigger unit in Far East Plaza.
That oyster omelette above is one of their signature dishes, and I liked it, but not for the oysters.
The thing that was more exciting was the gooey yet crispy stuff underneath, which came out piping hot and was garnished nicely, going well with that sour chili sauce. I'd eat it again.
Their Hainanese pork chop rice has the option of having the curry packed separately. Which was ideal if you wanted some crisp to still remain on those tasty pork chops by the time they get delivered to you. Very nice.
As far as I can remember, their beef tenderloin hor fun in black bean sauce is likely the only one I've ever truly enjoyed.
