Came early to lola's cafe but was not allowed to choose a seat and the staffs there were quite noisy despite the limited space in the cafe.
Lola’s Cafe 2023 5 Simon Road https://www.lolascafe.com.sg/ Miso Salmon Grain Bowl (SGD $19)
The cosy vibes and the environment is good place to gather. As for the food-wise, though the dish's name is familiar, there is some twist on the dish that makes Lola different from other cafes. Apart from that, the price of the dishes is relatively cheaper than other cafes too.
Looking for Kolo Mee in Singapore? Well stop looking because we have found the best Kolo Mee in the whole of Singapore that is incredible!
I did not eat enough to attest its authenticity but it actually tasted not too bad.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
If you’re headed there, I’ll recommend going in the evening to avoid being disappointed!
This was proper Hainanese porridge, with a grainy texture, well flavoured and savoury porky porridge, and fairly generous, fresh, tender and well marinated pork balls and sliced pork in the porridge. Very nice.
Popular among the East people, Chai Chee Pork Porridge
Honestly, I will still prefer the latter and Sing Heng Kee in terms of the old school taste if we were to compare among their pork porridge.
For the amount they charge, 5 Star Corner is really generous with their portions! If you are hungry and looking for options that will fill you up, consider making a trip here!
The Nasi Lemak Specialist also sells lotong and biryani. Other noteworthy nasi lemak dishes include the Yellow Fish Nasi Lemak and Chicken Wing Nasi Lemak. I hear that their lontong is also very popular, and I’ll definitely be back to try it.
Their Lontong is as highly recommended but it usually sold out quite early and I did not get to eat it this time.
They might call themselves nasi lemak specialists, but the lontong is a real gem that you should not miss out on.
There is also plenty of parking space, and big round tables – perfect for family gatherings! If you like, you can also opt for the chef’s recommended salted egg crab too.
I will definitely vote this as one of the best bak chor mee in Singapore.
Apart from the pork chop bun, the UFO bun (太空包) seem equally popular as well.
I liked the Pork Ribs Prawn Noodle the most! The next time you are feeling a little under the weather, this bowl of goodness might just perk you up.
My colleagues and I made a team of three and we all went home with satisfied bellies. I only wished that there could’ve been a little more variety in the vegetable and meat platters.
This was really wow – a really thick and viscous porridge, with maximum flavour, and generous ingredients. The sliced pork and pork balls were really tender and sweet and slightly peppery, and the century egg nicely pungent.
Sin Heng Kee Porridge is renowned for its traditional Teochew-style porridge, a beloved comfort food here. The eatery boasts a long-standing history, attracting a dedicated following of locals and tourists alike.
Best Congee In Singapore I had so far!
The bigger may not always be the better here. Yes, the regular-sized bowl is great for a quick lunchtime meal.
Staff at Tiew Mai is mainly Thai, and offers a certain level of authenticity. If only more people knew about Hougang Midtown.
Overall, Tiew Mai Thai Boat Noodle does seem to have the potential especially given that the Thai boat noodles here have more hits than misses.
While I enjoyed their spicy and sweet curry sauce and was impressed by their Salmon Aburi Onigiri, their fried sides were disappointingly small in size and lacking in flavour
Otoko is one of the newest additions to this Hougang enclave. This humble Japanese eatery first started out as a stall in a coffee shop at Sultan Plaza offering quality and comforting Japanese Donburi at affordable prices.
The idea of customising your own Japanese Curry Rice was fun, interesting and reasonably priced.
Their Oyster Omelette was really fragrant!
Pepper Lunch has recently introduced 8 tantalizing new items to ensure that all palates are pleased!
This is a good breakfast fix if you stay in the North-east. The ingredients stand out more for me than the Bee Hoon itself, and it is worth a try.
Better than most of franchise pizza brand and some artisanal pizzeria. We’ll sure order from Overly Cheezy again. Cheers!!
You can sit by the window and admire the view outside. It overlooks a huge field.
Although Foxhole cafe is relatively new, it is one of those cafes that I would return again and again as there are more hits than misses.
Service was decent though there was an instance where the staff served us the Ham & Cheese Croissant telling us it was the Chili Crab Croissant (my dining partner does not eat seafood) — things that can definitely be improved on.
AM Bakery recommends all breads to be consumed within 3 days from the day of purchase. The breads are good for 5 days if they are kept in the refrigerator. It is best to consume the pastries by the next day.
