It can be such an investment of time and effort, but Roland Restaurant’s chilli crabs are definitely worth getting your hands (and everything else) deliciously dirty for.
Roland Restaurant’s chilli crab is good.

Two of Singapore’s finest Hawker Centre Dim Sum - Five Star Hong Kong Dim Sum Mei Ling Street vs Neptune Hong Kong Tim Sum Marine Parade
Siew Mai, Fried Prawn Dumplings, Char Siew Chang Fun, Har Gow and Crystal Dumplings, all of which were nice except for the Chang Fun. That was too thick for me.
It is worthy trying if you want to satisfy your dim sum craving in a no-frills setting, but not something I will specially travel down for.
Annie’s passion for cooking and dedication to her craft really shows in her food, and that’s enough for a repeat visit.
For those who are unable to get a homecooked meal, this is a good alternative. The food is tasty, yet made with a lot of care and passion!
This is an old school Western Food stall and they have a wide range of favourites from Fish & Chips to Chicken Chop and Steak. I had the Fish & Chips where the batter is crispy, along with the fresh fish meat. The Chicken Chop is a good alternative too if you feel that Fried Chicken Cutlet is too sinful.
If I am ever in the area, I will be sure to head back to try Tip Top’s pasta menu which features dishes such as Chicken Bolognese Spaghetti, sold at an affordable price of $5!
The duck is marinated and cooked well, but not as dry and gamey like others.
If you’re willing to travel for char kway teow, check out this list of Penang hawker food which includes a must-try char kway teow that is cooked with creamy duck eggs!
The char kway teow was less sweet and more moist, savoury, garlicky and spicy. The wok hei was there, and the kway teow was nicely soft and mushy, with more kway teow, and very little noodles and tau gay.
Definitely value for money if you ask me.
While it is not exactly Taiwanese cuisine, the mee sua and fried chicken might satisfy any cravings you have until you can head to Taiwan for the real deal again.
the winners are no doubt the foodies and patrons here, given the sheer amount of options and locations one can visit to enjoy the once rare-to-find variant of the wanton noodle.
Oh man, let me tell you about my faves from the menu! First, there's the emperor chicken with herbs - it's so tender and packed with flavor, you won't be able to get enough.
Ambience at Goldleaf Restaurant is modern and functional. The brightly lit place with ample natural light is minimally decorated, with modern furnishings lined neatly within the spacious seating area.
If you have not made any arrangements for the upcoming Mother’s Day, get in touch with Goldleaf. Other set menus are also available. Cheers!!
If you find space a constraint, you can always hop across the road to Burger and Steak Frites. They are under the same management and serve the same dishes. The ambience there is more casual and suitable for families.
A charming slice of France in Joo Chiat. Braseiro seems relatively under the radar when it comes to steak frites in Singapore and that makes up part of its charm. Head here for a cosy and affordable steak meal, and the service is very hospitable too.

I must agree that it's not the same vibes anymore but still the history of this Confectionery remains. You still can at least get some guaranteed delicious taste of nostalgia from Chin Mee Chin.
The cream puff looks different – very regularly shaped. The place looks different. Just like any other old school cafe now. Coffee and cream puff taste good though.
CMC or Chin Mee Chin Confectionery along East Coast Road is an iconic coffeeshop for kaya toast and coffee and other treats.
Baba Chews Bar & Eatery at Hotel Indigo Katong Singapore celebrates Christmas with exquisite gourmet dishes with familiar local ingredients.
OCBC Card 1 for 1 Mains Takeaway deal is good opportunity to try Baba Chews’ interesting Mod-Sin mains - such as Rendang Lasagne & Chilli Crab’ Tagliatelle.
Traditional might be good, but a modern take on it can be just as pleasing, if not better.
Really nice chocolate Pain Au Chocolate – layery, flaky, delicate, fully and buttery. The Canele was moist and spongy too.
Petit Pain, a popular small batch Bakery in Joo Chiat, and Japanese style bakery Kamome @ Joo Chiat offer delectable healthy bread.
Petit Pain makes delicious pastries that are affordable for everyone without compromising quality and tradition.
It took me quite long to finally try Da Dong, and no regrets at all. The dry prawn noodles is a clear winner for me.
Da Dong Prawn Noodles dishes out one of the better prawn noodles I’ve tasted in Singapore.
The pricing for the prawn mee is bound to raise some eyebrows at 13 - 20 SGD, a price range beyond the norms of what is expected of hawker food pricing.
Can’t call it Joe’s anymore – Sin Hoi Sai Eating House it is from now on
Sin Hoi Eating House @ East Coast Road is a favourite of the Kennett’s - amazing food on East Coast. It’s family, it’s so reasonable, it’s delicious.

As the in-house Chinese restaurant dining option of the Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy hotel, Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant has been delighting diners since April 2013. Serving quality modern Chinese dishes made with fresh ingredients, Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant is an under-the-radar dining destination for exquisite and well-executed comfort food.
Chinese executive chef of Jiawei, Victor Lee, has come up with new dishes after being inspired to support local food production. You can savour these new additions at Jia Wei Chinese Restaurant, located at Grand Mercure Singapore Roxy, from 15 April 2022.
I would still recommend here for family dinner and group gatherings as the food here is worth the price in terms of quality and portion.
It’s no secret I relied heavily on Google reviews nowadays and when I found out that there’s a Taiwanese restaurant, Isshin Machi (no, not ...
Isshin Machi 一心一町 has an outlet at greenwood avenue which is in the Bukit Timah area. I know they have another outlet at GRID but so glad I can go here for lunch.
I always need to try the Lu Rou Fun and theirs is smooth, not too fatty and enough sauce to cover the rice nicely. Very tasty.
No doubt that the Bee Hoon was cut into shorter strands for us to consume easily, my guests and I found that our bowls of Laksa were a tad on the spicier side. Nonethess, what matter most was that they enjoyed our local food and got to taste it finally.
I should eat here more often.
328 Katong Laksa in Singapore defeated Gordan Ramsay in the 2013 Hawker Heroes Challenge. It is just that good. This is one of the two best laksa in Singa..
Firebake at East Coast Road has launched a refreshed lunch menu and new items.
Our favorite wood-fired bakehouse Firebake has launched a refreshed lunch menu and also more new items to tantalize our taste buds!
Overall, we thought the food at Fibebake was good.
