Island Penang Kitchen serves a decent bowl of Penang Assam Laksa ($5) too. It has a nice balance of sour, sweet and spicy, topped with onions, cucumbers, pineapple and greens I also applauded the effort of using the authentic type of noodle served in Penang and not those thick beehoon. My only disappointment was that I could not find much minced fish in the assam laksa, another characteristic of assam laka.
As a XO fish bee hoon lover, I would say this bowl of fish soup was above average. The flavor of the XO doesn't overshadow the soup, and I could detect its aroma.
An ok bowl of Japanese fusion mee pok with unusual ingredients. Long queue though.
The Japanese Fusion Mee Pok is definitely worth a try if you happen to be in the vicinity.
The signature minced meat noodles was done very well, springy and gelled together in terms of the vinegary and chilli flavour. I recommend breaking the onsen egg over the noodles – it provided a smoothness and richness which added to the flavour and texture of the noodles. The mock abalone, the sliced meat and the meatballs were all done well. Quite nice.
A new stall recommended by SG Food on Foot. The soup was layered and flavourful, and you could taste the savouriness, fish, clams and bitter gourd. The sliced fish was very fresh, the fried fish was flavourful and overall the soup was very nice.
All in all, I think that Happiness Healthy Fish Meat Soup would make your day if you’re looking for a simple and comforting meal, or a filling and satisfying one.
Quite a good traditional prawn noodles, with a flavourful but light and sweet stock. The prawns, fishcake and sliced pork were meagre but serviceable, although the prawns were a bit tough, and the noodles of a good texture.
Despite having Prawn Mee as its signature dish on the signboard, personally, I would prefer their Lor Mee.
Nice, sweet and complex braising sauce, with fragrant rice, fairly tasty and tender duck, and really spicy and flavourful hae bi hiam chilli. Definitely above average braised duck.

I'm not a fan of Malaysian White Curry and there is basically no cravings for such cuisine. I still prefer our chinese usual kind of Curry to White Curry. For those who have not tried out white curry, you may want to give a try here.
If you want to try out other good food, their Lor Mee from Traditional Famous Prawn Noodle is recommended too. Located in the same coffeeshop and directly the neighbour to Fishball Shop.
I was at West Coast Food Centre on a rainy day, looking for one of my favourites – Dry Ban Mian.
Some of my friends commented that three dollars for a plate of vegetarian beehoon at San Yuan Vegetarian is rather expensive. I have not done a survey to compare the prices with other vegetarian stalls. What do you think? Is it expensive?
I would encourage all you westies to climb out of bed earlier to try this fishball noodles in soup! It’s really a next-level kind of fishball noodles.
You can tell that the Damian has definitely put in a lot of effort into creating his own brand of gelato, insisting on churning out all flavours fresh himself.
Pobo Gelato would still be a great spot in the neighbourhood for catch-ups over gelato (even better if they would ever serve specialty coffee), especially considering the lack of cafes around West Coast, though being a place with more character would certainly make it a destination in the West to check out.
I’m hankering for their fried chicken wings as I’m typing this. The food options here are limited, but I am sold on the fried goodness that is Yon Yan’s chicken wings.
The simple bee hoon eaten with the savoury crispy chicken wings and robustly savoury spicy sambal belacan, is what keep Yon Yan's fans coming back for more.
Tua Keat Bak Kut Teh is located in a coffee shop near West Coast Plaza and within walking distance from West Coast Food Center. No doubt that its only a small stall in the coffee shop, I'm quite surprise by the number of dishes they offered on their menu.
Recommended by 8 Days. Flavourful tasty stuff, with a generous serving of herbaceous, minty, spicy and umami basil pork.
Overall the wanton mee is decent but not the best I have eaten. If you do not like those saucy type of wanton mee, then you may want to give it a miss.
To me, the biggest edge of Annyeong Chicken is their ability to offer their food at affordable hawker prices, while still bringing something of quality to the table.
Here at 136 HongKong St Fish Head Steamboat, take heed to their signatures, you'll do well to stick to them. We found that the dishes missing a thumbs up emoji were notably less impressive.
