HEAR: Click to listen/ download podcast of this week’s swimmingly superb porridge episode! SEE: Masterchef Singapore Judge Chef Damian D’Silva loves porridge. Specifically Teochew-style…
Their standard and quality of dishes have been reputable and consistent all these years.
Craziness runs in my blood but i am still surprised that i agreed to the Great Kon's suggestion to travel all the way to Yuhua Village for get-together lunch on a weekend!
The decor is bare bones minimalist, the coffee is pretty good but the stars here are the fine handcrafted French style cakes.
Overall, i must say our group (a few of them were extremely picky when it comes to food) had a great time savouring the quality artisanal cakes / pastries / tarts but felt that its location would eventually result in its closure.
Lee’s Confectionery is a welcomed patisserie in the west serving delicate French haute patisserie.
While the food at TOBY’s Kopi Toast Bakery wasn’t exactly out of this world, the affordable prices as well as the portions offered are very attractive and well worth what you’re paying for. If you’re ever on a budget when making a journey to the west, you know where to visit!
It is a good initiative that the menu includes local meals like this. A good bargain given the hearty portions too.
I also liked how the house-made pizza dough was nicely stretched, giving a good bite and holding up the condiments well.
Yun Nans is one of the largest causal chain restaurants in China with over 200 outlets with a record of more than 1 million of chicken soup sold world
YUN NANS Westgate is celebrating its first anniversary, and to commemorate this special occasion, it is holding a not-to-be-missed promotion — enjoy 50% off* total dine-in food bill on 24 and 25 November 2020, Tuesday and Wednesday! Also, the Westgate outlet will now offer the 10 exclusive dishes that NEX outlet first launched in September. This is the perfect time to enjoy the new dishes at a great discount!
I was delighted to find that Yun Nans delivers right now, as I finally had my chance to try that awesome-looking seabass that I missed last time.
Joo Siah Bak Koot Teh delivery review - pictures of pork ribs soup, braised pork belly, bean curd skin, preserved vegetables ...
Personally, I like coming here in the early morning to get my peppery bkt fix.
If you’re looking for good herbal bak kut teh instead, check out our review of Good Taste Bak Kut Teh.
Hua Xing Bak Kut Teh & Steamed Fish review - BKT Lunch at Yuhua Market Hawker Centre, Jurong East Singapore with pictures of food and stall
A hidden hawker gem in Jurong with a multi-generation following for their peppery bak kut teh, Teochew steam fish and asam fish enjoyed with Nanyang tea.
The bak kut teh was very peppery and porky, but didn’t seem to have any additional layers of fragrance. The mui cai was not bad, but couldn’t save the soup. I think this had been featured variously due to their old-school taste, which I didn’t appreciate.
We finally made our way to Pandan Gardens to try out Ah Hua Teochew Fishball Noodle! Our order consisted of their renowned dry-style mee tai mak and dry mee pok.
Authentic and Tasty Teochew Fishball Noodles that have fishballs and chilli paste made from scratch.
These handmade fishballs took me back to my childhood. The meatballs were probably the best I've ever had!
Lai Heng Handmade Teochew Kueh is the food stall with the longest queue at Yu Hua Place hawker centre in Jurong East.
Four types of Teochew kueh are available and can be enjoyed steamed or pan-fried. The pink heart-shaped rice kueh costs $1 each and the rest are 80 cents each for the steamed version ($1.10 and $0.90 respectively for the pan-fried version).
Lai Heng Handmade Teochew Kueh really deserves its reputation for amazing Teochew kuehs.
Quite a good steak for a neighbourhood cafe. Good beefy flavour, juicy and quite tender but with bite. Done exactly to medium. Really nice.
A lot of folks on the island are probably familiar with Aston's. Some might even be familiar with Collin's. Here's another one to throw in there: Bowen's, just across the way from the original location of PGFN (413 Pandan Garden #01-119, 9234-7819).
I liked their chicken better, especially since it was cheaper too.
Price of food was on a steep side. Nonetheless, if you are looking for an environment that is away from the Shopping Malls, this can be a good choice. On top of that, they do have live band performances on some evenings in the week.
The salted egg prawn pasta here was smooth, salty, creamy and fragrant with salted egg and curry. The pasta was soft, and the prawns bouncy and succulent. Not bad.
Food at Fountain Microbrewery generally consists of Western style, Modern Singaporean cuisine, with finger food dominating.
The food was rather unique to me being a Japanese Cuisine and the quality is there. Looking at its menu, there is no reason not to be there again.
Jem, 50 Jurong Gateway Road, #04-13, Singapore 608549, open Mon to Sun 11am to 10pm
Enjoy a greater variety with MUSUBI’s Japanese otsumami at wallet-friendly prices that goes perfectly with a selection of specially curated drinks.
Overall, we like many of the dishes at this restaurant. Some of them may perhaps be more competitively priced than neighbourhood tze char places.
Quite a normal, just slightly above average chicken rice. The rice was fragrant but a tad dry, and the chicken was so so in term of both texture and taste. The omelette though was very fluffy and tasty – shiok.
The rice was 粒粒分明, with good wok hei, and XO and hae bi fragrance (perhaps a bit too salty). The pork chop was meaty, tender and juicy, with a nice slightly savoury and meaty flavour.
King of Fried Rice Opening its 6th Outlet at Jurong East!
As overall, if you are comparing King of Fried Rice to DTF's fried rice, I will still prefer the taste of DTF.
Grilled Fish in the food court of JEM

Collin’s Lunch Promotion : 20% Off Ala Carte Menu at Collin’s Westgate Singapore with pictures of menu with prices and restaurant...
That pasta behind it is a bit off-putting though, and I am a bit hesitant to try the other things on the menu. Note to self: ask for no dressing on the salad given that it's sweet.
What I want to highlight is the NEW 2-in-1 Jjigae, for you to enjoy the best of both worlds with two Korean broths such as kimchi, gochujang or bulgogi in one pot.
On top of the wide variety of Korean dishes, Seorae @ Jem also has a salad bar where diners can get an unlimited flow of ban chan (side dishes) such as kimchi, beansprouts and potatoes, with any order of grilled meat.
Really not bad for its price. Quite fresh, firm yet tender, smoky and moderately sweet savoury. Satisfying.
Ever since the opening of their Changi Airport kiosk, Novena, and Clarke Quay Central outlets, Don Don Donki has been on a roll.
The next time you’re in Jurong in need of a sugar rush, MADLYGOOD makes for a great option if it’s ice cream, waffles or milkshakes you want.
As a young ice cream cafe, MADLYGOOD is constantly experimenting with new dessert creations.
Madlygood is a spot that we would certainly revisit again for good ice-cream in Jurong East
Honolulu Café has reasonably priced breakfast sets from 8 am to 11 am. The popular egg tarts and other pastries are also available.
I have been to Honolulu Café (檀岛香港茶餐厅) for quite a few times already and normally I always get to order the flaky egg tarts and so this time round, the cafe has come out new dishes like Bu Luo Egg Tarts and Mini Hazelnut Choco ttart.
The Soi Thai Soi Nice menu has big photographs of the food, which is very useful.
There is also a mini buffet option that caters for your small family gatherings and parties with a minimum order of 10 to 15 person.
Be sure you get a group of friends to try out their hotpot here at JEM and Seletar Mall.
