The Haiphong or HP Prawn Noodle Soup was nicely subtle, and lightly sweet and umami with prawn flavour.
If you’re in the area or craving some authentic Vietnamese food, head down to Le Cafe Vie5! The Vietnamese Egg Coffee is a must-order.
Honestly, it’s hard to go wrong with nasi Padang in general. These spices and myriads of textures and flavours always hit all the right spots.
Yup there’s rice under there and I love this mess!
This was a really old school stall. The noodles were thin, wiry and springy in a tasty slightly savoury black sauce, with slight heat – really nice in terms of texture and taste
Chow down on yummy QQ KL-style wanton noodles at Sen Gen Wanton Noodle which is tucked away in a quiet coffeeshop in Tai Seng. Read more.
JW Korean Food Story is such a hidden gem. Located along Bukit Timah, people seldom venture into Sixth Ave for food, although from their Facebook and IG page, this one is apparently well-known in the Muslim community.
You don’t need a road trip to Johor anymore because JB Old San Huan Teochew Kway Teow Soup has set up shop right here in Paya Lebar!
Quan Lai 泉来, probably serves the most expensive Kway Chap in Singapore but in terms of quality, its still worth to enjoy such meal once in a while.
Quan Lai may probably serve the most expensive Kway Chap in Singapore but in terms of quality and taste, I find it worthwhile to have it once in a while.
Beside duck rice and kwap chap, Quan Lai Kway Chap also offers other items such as Pig Organs Soup, Claypot Mutton Soup as well as duck wings, pig ears and pig tongue.
I do get the opportunities for advertorials in this blog but many a times; both parties are unable to compromise on the terms. My terms are ...
Order from 8Crabs and have large fresh meaty Sri Lankan crabs delivered to your doorstep in ONE hour! They have zi char dishes as well!
For the fresh crabs, 8 Crabs Seafood Restaurant is worth trying. It is also great that there is a good mix of other dishes on their online stall to go along with my crab feast.
Yu Chun Fish Head Curry is known to many, but not well-known at the same time. Located near Tai Seng MRT, it has a mean Curry Fish Head.
Yu Cun is another fantastic recommendation of a hidden gem by Ron, whose past endorsements of Gu Ma Jia and Chui Xiang Kitchen have all been bang-on.
A must try place for claypot curry fish head and zi char.
Julaiha Muslim Restaurant is an Indian-Muslim eatery located along Macpherson road. They are open 24/7 so this makes a good supper spot to go if you're nearby! They are located somewhat in the middle of Tai Seng and Macpherson MRT station.
The prata was fresh, unoily and carried with it a nice doughy fragrance, although it had only the faintest crisp. Nice, but I’m not sure that it is Food King Good.
I will be back for the prata and, of cause, the Indian rojak!
friendly service, beautiful space and great coffee- made our visit to Alchemist HQ @ Khong Guan Building a wonderful cafe experience.
I also liked the environment, not as echoey as expected, with various seating arrangements, and decorative traces of the old heritage building. Look at the flooring.
Cafe space like this is hard to come by in Singapore, where you are literally the only prominent F&B concept.
Though food from Took Lae Dee is pocket friendly and Authentic, cooked by Thai Chef, I find that its a standard fare. Pricing-wise, it's not cheap in my opinion.
Affordable and satisfying!
Took Lae Dee in Tai Seng has an air-conditioned dining area designed around an open kitchen.
Love their concept of the restaurant from having Unagi and Skewers on Binchotan Charcoal to Teppan Yaki and Sashimi. Having an Izakaya in the industrial area is unique enough, I do not mind making a return again for other dishes.
Basically diner can pick 2 dons from a wide array of choices. I decided to go for the Ginger Pork ($7) and Prawn Tempura ($7). The pork marinated in a soy sauce is flavoursome and tender while the crunchy prawn is coated in a delightful crispy batter.
Otherwise, Yamato Izakaya certainly is a spot that residents around the north-east would be excited about; a spot for the office workers around for a weekday treat, or somewhere for folks to gather without having to end up in town on weekends.
Was very happy with my revisit of Carol Mel Cafe and will definitely be back for more.
Carol Mel really is one of the more outstanding cafes in Singapore.
Carol Mel Cafe got better with high quality of food and drinks ever since they started. I will return.
Overall, the sashimi and don we ordered were decent although the prices were on the slightly higher side. Some of the highlights include the aged salmon which is not commonly found in other Japanese restaurants and the chawanmushi which is really delightful. For the price tag, I would say the sashimi and sushi are probably worth it but I’m not that convinced about the rest of the items. Personally, the distance from my house is really far so I will not be going there any time soon
Fairly reasonable prices for the quality of ingredients here, Daiyusan Sushi Bar is worth trying if you want a no-frills dining ambience tucked away from the crowd.
Their food tends to be frustratingly sweet, but in this case, it was a welcome approach given how nicely it complemented everything else. If we order from these guys again, then I'm sticking to this one.

The tagline for Grain Catering is "Your Friends Are Eating Grain And Loving It", and this is an apt description. At the time of this post, I consider Grain Catering to be the gold standard for catering in Singapore. Why? There are a variety of factors that support my decision.
If you want to make any occasion a memorable one, customizing cakes will not only throw a surprise, it will also create joys to the occasion.

Yi Jia South Village was our choice for a family dinner and there was certainly some value in what we got.
curry fish head was good. lemak, sweet, tasty. fish head was fresh.
While the food has room for improvement, I enjoyed the variety offered at CAF Clickafood, with my favourite dish being the Crab Omelette Fried Rice.
It is the perfect place to have all your different cravings satisfied when dining together.
亲友聚餐如果大家各有不同喜好,有人喜欢西餐有人爱吃泰餐,还有人要精品咖啡,ClickAFood可以一次过解决,不用苦苦等候不同的送餐员上门,自行上门打包外带也更方便。
For those that wants to dine in a more comfortable environment, the newest outlet will allow you to do so. You can enjoy a bowl of laksa with air conditioning. It also offer other mains if you don't feel like having noodle for your meal.
The fried chicken turns out to be da bomb as each slice of meat is so crispy and juicy.
Conclusion: a rather disappointing experience, especially given the high hopes I had for them. Maybe the other branches would fare better – but I will never know. I am not even sure if the stall at Bedok is still in business.
