As you can tell, we definitely enjoyed the pan mee at JingZhu and prefer it over Lian Heng. Of course, taste is subjective.
We ordered Pan Mee Soup (RM7) which came with a generous amount of minced pork, slices of mushroom, fried crispy anchovies and plenty of sweet potato leaves. The soup base is bursting with multiple flavours from the sweet potato leaves and ikan bilis stock. The noodles’ (mee hoon kueh) texture was incredibly smooth, soft and mostly importantly not chewy.
Hokkien Pan Mee can be dry or soup version, was told the different is the minced meat, after eating I still have no idea the difference! But the Pumpkin Barley was really very nice.
One of the reasons why this dish is popular in Ipoh, is because of the 怡保土產豆芽 Ipoh home grown bean sprouts known to be 香脆多汁 crunchy and succulent, thanks to the 自然礦泉水 hard water from the 石灰岩山 limestone hills.
Highly recommended by regulars would be their Loh Yee Meen.
Curry was to my liking, not too spicy nor salty even with the added sambal, nice!
Their Fish Head Curry was very good. Very reasonably priced at RM 32.00 and it would be good for at least four people. Came with lots of Tofu, Lady's Finger and Brinjals and the curry was thick and nice. Slightly on the creamy side too as they have added a little more coconut milk than usual. The fish head itself was fresh and as a total dish, it was really nice. My rating for this shall be 8/10.
Probably the best Fish Head Curry offered in Subang Jaya area! Forget about the Salted Baked Chicken!
A thumbs up to a good place for good food nearby around Subang Jaya area.
I suppose after 10am or later; their signature Nasi Kandar will also be ready!
It's a good breakfast spot as he did not stop making noodles from after delivering mine until I was leaving the kopitiam.
Everything was fresh and nice but I sense it is going to be a long day ahead!
If you want a spicy noodle treat, some netizens and even including "The Star", highly recommends Choy Kee's Curry Laksa Noodle stall as must try if you are in the Subang Jaya SS19 area, the Curry Laksa comes with either 燒肉 Roasted Pork, 滑雞 Steamed chicken, and 鳥蛤科 Fresh cockles.
The noodles are claimed to be hand-made and the shop also offers wholesale or their noodles, not sure if the partitioned area behind the shop is the factory itself.
We didn’t enjoy the strong flavours of the minced meat sauce in the soup.
overall there wasn't much taste in it except that "fried bean curd w/seaweed" (salted fish). At dinner time on a Saturday night, the vegetarian restaurant was empty with any customers! Maybe, fried rice isn't their specialty!
New Vegetarian restaurant in SS19, serves reasonably good taste vegetarian dishes.
The curry noodle comes with Pork Blood Curd, Squid, and Prawns; interesting but very nicely done. Liked it a lot.
The restaurant offers 2 signature dishes which is their Pork Noodle as well as Penang style Curry Mee.
surprisingly to be very satisfying especially the spicy sambal sauce.
My bowl of dry rat noodle was just right in taste (not too salty), and on the side with pork meat soup, overall a good breakfast.
This is overall a great place to chill if you’re looking for one that isn’t crowded with people parking themselves at a table all day with a drink and a laptop. I’d certainly return to give it a go at their desserts!
FIQS Gastronomy certainly did not skimp on their sweet offerings. The Granita (RM 10.00) came nicely presented in a bottle filled with small crystal-like textured raspberry, whipped cream and mint. It was indeed fun and refreshing biting the small crispy, popping crystals in the mouth.
Their Iced Long Black was definitely cafe prices and I was not surprised as this is Subang Jaya. For me, as long as the drink is good, that's fine and true enough, this was perfectly fixed. The coffee was medium bodied and it was crisp due to the iced conditions. Truly perfect drink that went so well with the humid weather. My rating for this drink shall be 9/1
Food Chemistry Special Burger Have the awesome burger here where the burgers are served in generous portion with the fries at the side and golden onion ring on the top. Served with the choice of beef or chicken, the burger is sandwiched with the bacon, mac n cheese, as well as the BBQ pull beef-chicken and caramelized onions on the butter toasted bun
But its the same name as before and Restoran Lian Heng 莲興茶餐室 now also has a coconut water kiosk counter, where one can tapao or order as a beverage with the Pan Mee. The coconut water offering is definitely a good idea.
Conclusion, first visit here wasn't such a good experience but maybe their other dishes can be better, I suppose also mindful of what you are picking from the menu as it didn't have any pricing on it.
I ordered the Dry Pan Mee, with hand-torn Pan Mee, it comes with generous miced pork meat, anchovies on very very dark salty sauce.
Too bad! But still the food is good.
Pancake is decent, the crusted fish a bit below expectation. Coffee is nice.
A good neighborhood cafe and bakery to enjoy western breakfast.
Here's the location.
All in all, we think that the buns in Burgertory are also worthy of a praise as it has ample amount of sesame which makes them very aromatic. Friendly staffs, reasonable prices and uniqueness of place are what's worth mentioning. Probably the only downside of visiting Burgertory is they only open for dinners and the difficulty to get a parking space in its proximity.
A new burgerjoint in the subang ss15 neighborhood, Burgertory! Recently “burgers” became the talk of the town since Burgerlab. And after all the talking I had a sudden urge craving for burgers. Soft fluffy buns with juicy meat complementing it with chips or fries over soft drinks. Sinfully satisfying yet I think I shall worry …
If you are in the SS15 area and would like to have a new brunch spot to enjoy, why not drop by to Good Friends Cafe?
Good Friends Cafe offers an extensive menu choice mostly western but offers some asian fusion as well. I suppose the Cafe do provide a good setting of ambience for dining and hang out with friends and family.
The french toast (RM15) here is pretty good. Thick cut brioche is coated with eggs, served along with the caramelised bananas, berries, raisins, and toasted almonds. Sweetness overloads in this toast but it is awesome.
