Food at Tai Cheong Bakery is classic Hong Kong tea house cuisine, focusing on snack, desserts, and light bites.
Order this to try as we saw most of the table ordering it! Turn out it was good. I can taste the truffle in every bite and the cheese was well spreaded.
Overall, Tai Cheong Bakery definitely served the comfort food that the Hong Kongers have on daily basis. It is good, but don't expect extraordinary stuff. We'll definitely make a return visit, just not very keen on spending too much time lining up. Cheers!!
So the Elvis bagel tasted exactly like how it was described, of candied bacon, caramelised banana and peanut butter. It seemed like a weird combination on what was essentially harder bread, but tasted quite good.
Madmoiselle Chantal featured corned beef, honey baked ham, Swiss cheese with a sunny side up and some Carolina mustard. I liked it as a cold cut bagel with eggs and cheese.
Overall, I am glad that Two Men Bagel House has opened in Holland Village and judging from the queues in their opening week
Without recommendation from friends, I doubt I would ever check out Mian Jia Noodle Bar at Holland Village ; reason being there are too man...
The noodles had a very thick robust broth, full of crustacean flavours and resembling a lobster bisque. It reminded me of the prawn broth at Naked Finn – this was fine praise.
I am glad that I have discovered a new noodle place that serves a delicious and a quality bowl of noodle.
Thick herbal taste. Deep and complex. Flavourful. Tender meat. Nice.
Though I am not a fan of Malaysia-style bak kut teh for its strong herbal taste, the version here is more balanced which will suit the local's palate.
Kota Zheng Zong seeks to bring the authentic take into Singapore, albeit at a slightly high price point.
you can actually experience this much-loved spring season at 2am:dessertbar with Janice Wong’s new Strawberry Sakura High Tea which is running for 4 weeks from 6 March till 4th April.
Very normal, slightly heavy pancakes. And I thought matcha cream wasn’t quite suitable to be used in a mont blanc swirl – slightly too heavy in term of flavour.
One of their most hyped-up options are the Mont Blanc Pancakes ($18), which features a stack of fluffy pancakes garnished with an avalanche of matcha mousse, matcha mont blanc (chestnut-flavoured) sauce, fresh cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I am kinda curious to try their Bondi Burger one day though.
A good to go choice or something for a quick meal is the Chicken Rappa ($7.90). I preferred this to the salad as I can get everything in one bite.
Overall, Oporto’s competitive price points and delicious sauces do make it a worthy rival to Nandos.
All in all, I find that the Taiwanese Food was pretty standard and items on the menu were limited. There are many more selections of Taiwanese Eateries out there.
It's definitely worth a visit if you find yourself craving for some authentic Thai Street Food.
The chicken was sous vide to retain the moisture and natural juices, added with some ginger and organic sea salt, and so didn’t taste as bland as some of the health-food stalls.
not my kind of place when there are many other options cheaper, bigger serving and equal or better tasting.
The restaurant has a comfortable setting and we left without overbearing oily smell from all the grilling/ bbq.
Ghim Moh Food Centre with some 50 stalls is popular with local residents and also with workers from office blocks nearby because it has many good food stalls.
I will be returning again to check out their Penang style prawn mee.
You should come have a taste for yourself and let me know what you think?
I thought this was a good cheeseburger this time round, moist and smoky, with the sourness of the pickles and the slightly tart sauce coming through. Satisfying.
Homegrown burger stall Hammee’s Burgers is back from their brief hiatus with new and improved tweaks to their yummy burgers! Read more.
Fried chicken had a nice crisp turmeric batter that sealed in the juices in the meat.
Checking out New Lucky Claypot Rice 新鸿运瓦煲饭which was listed in the Michelin guide. The chicken claypot rice was cooked to order, thus there was a long wait.
New Lucky Claypot Rice at Holland Village serves a mean claypot, but avoid the soups.
The dining frenzy passed quickly and everything quietened down around 8pm when the wave of customers finished their dinner.
The Aburi Mala Charshu Kombu Noodles was recommended by Small Potatoes Make The Steak Look Bigger. The noodles tasted like normal thicker springy noodles, and the charshu was sweet and very lightly numbing spicy, with a bit of bite.
While spicy food like this is not often my ideal choice of food selection, it will be unlikely that I will be back again for it.
At last I have tried this. Nothing earth shattering, but good hearty spicy tofu with just a bit of bite, and qq, savoury and spicy dan dan noodles.
243 Holland Avenue, Singapore 278977, open Mon to Sun 11am to 2:30pm, 5:30 to 9:30pm
Their grilled fishes were quite nicely done and there's a kaisen chahan that was unexpectedly peppery. The latter wasn't a bad thing.
Margaret Drive Sin Kee Chicken Rice, one of the top chicken rice stalls from the Hawkers.
The rice was I thought the gold standard of chicken rice – moist, oily, flavourful and fragrant with chicken stock and oil, garlic, onions and lemongrass etc.
Sin Kee is a well-known name among chicken rice stalls in Singapore, mainly serving poached chicken rice Cantonese-style.
Oh I tried their Mocha too. Coffee is not bad.
Chip Bee Gardens Cafes - Overview of f & b outlets near Holland Village MRT
The time-limit was good to prevent us from over-ordering and over-eating.
Fans of the ramen place can rejoice because they have launched a Hearty Shrimp broth made from big prawns baked, hand ground till fine and simmered for more than eight hours with premium conpoy, clams and spices for more oomph.
Enjoying the food with a group of friends at Beauty In The Pot at The Star Vista is surely a good way to end the work week and especially for supper.
