Also ordered a steamed clam (originally wanted grilled octopus / spicy balitong but they ran out), which turned out surprisingly tasty. The clams were fat and meaty, and the broth was clear and sweet, without overpowering the seafood flavours.

Indian Rice Meal + Chicken Briyani , 23 ringgit The briyani was tasty. The rice was fragrant and moist. I like briyani rice that are dense, moist because then, you do not always have to add on curry/gravy. Having it on its own allows you to truly appreciate its taste. The chicken and the rice is all cooked together in one big pot.If the rice is moist and dense, imagine the chicken. It literally falls off the bone, I had no trouble peeling off the meat. It was yummy.
Day to day had been in business for almost 8 years. If you are staying around this small little garden surrounded by trees, crows and constant noise pollution coming from KESAS highway, most likely…
Fa Kee’s Charsiew, Siew Yoke rice is the BOMB. And it’s cheap. Look at this massive plate which only set us back by RM13.50!
Uncle Chan’s Special Smooth Pan Mee is very similar to the pan mee I had at Kungfu Pan Mee in Taman Sri Sentosa and guess what? In my conversation with Uncle Chan, he revealed that he and the owner of Kungfu Pan Mee are all from the same group of friends who dabbled in this special version of pan mee, kinda like a “brotherhood of pan mee” and each has gone his own way to open his own outlet.
Roast Meat serve with rice is a famous day to day fast food for Chinese, everyone loves it. During lunch hour, this stall has a long line of patrons queuing up to buy take away cause they serve generous amount of roasted good and rice in your take away. You'll be amazed how big the portion you get on your take away, if you just add rice, I think can serve two person.
Their fish head curry with ingredients which are very fresh. Super delicious and so satisfying. The price is a bit on the high side, but go try. Must try!
Fish head curry RM 42 I think this only comes in one standard size and for 2 pax (without rice), it was a rather substantial portion. They were generous with the vegetables e.g. long bean, egg plant and ladies finger. The fish itself was not just all bones; it had enough flesh to enjoy with the creamy and thick curry. Definitely not your watery mamak curry fish head variety.
The style of frying was unique. Then the cockles were generous and half cooked.
Pan Mee i had several time, quite good.
Chicken Rendang with Rice, 15 ringgit. Once we were done with the waffle, as we were both still hungry, we decided to order a rice bowl for early dinner. Yummy 🙂 I like that the rice was real soft and moist, once you mixed everything up – it literally becomes one pile of gooeyness. The chicken came in generous portion, nice chewy cubes of meat. I usually like my gravy packed with flavors and spices, the gravy here was a tad milder than what I am used to but it was yummy nonetheless. They also included some steamed carrots and couliflowers which was an awesome addition to the dish. It gave the dish some crunch amidst the gooey.
The Banana Leaf Waffle (RM25) was served with a big vade waffle, sprinkled with balsamic rice vinegar crackers and curry leaves. On the side it came with tomato chutney, coconut ice cream, mango jelly with chilli, mango curry chantilly, all served on top of an actual banana leaf. The texture of the waffle was dense yet refined, very yummy. Regardless which accompaniments you chose, every bite was bursting with flavour that you could possibly think of when having Indian food, from vade, to chapati, to tosai. Our favourite was the mint chutney and yogurt (tiryu), as both had a taste reminiscent of the real pudina chutney and that you could find when eating roti naan.
An Indian-flavour, inspired and savoury Contains waffles, yoghurt and tons of chutney The magical element that makes you sigh and go “DEI…” is Forêt Blanc’s genius Banana Leaf Waffle V2.0 that tastes EXACTLY like Vade!
Nice banana leave rice.
Verdict All in all, Sri Ganapathi Mess’s was a super satisfying lunch and we trust you will most likely leave with a stuffed and happy tummy. At least our friends over Chasing A Plate felt that way. Prices here are slightly above the average banana leaf eatery but the taste of their food totally made up for it.
Rice + 4 Vegetables + Papadum, 6 ringgit, Chicken Varuval, 8 ringgit, Sura Puttu, 6 ringgit, Fish Cutlet, 5 ringgit = 25 ringgit. Loved every single ingredient on the leaf. Yum! The vegetable option for the day was spinach, cucumber, bittergourd and brinjal. Delicious. The chicken curry was da bomb. Spicy and thick, flavorful, guaranteed to tickle your tastebuds with every single mouth you take. The meats was awesome as well. Couldnt have asked for a better wholesome Indian lunch.
[Pork-free] Let Masala Wheels take you to flavour-town! We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place for great food, service and social work.
Flavours of dishes were wholesomely delicious – our fried tenggiri slices were fresh, well-marinated, juicy and very tasty
Pretty good banana leaf rice which include Indian dessert.
overall I agree to others its a better than average noodle recipe! However the side dishes ordered "水云吞和猪筋丸 WanTon and Pork Tendon Ball" did not impress me.
My Personal Opinion Your best bet here, in my opinion, is their loh shi fun in a delicious soup base (so, you must like loh shi fun to begin with to come away with an enjoyable meal).....complemented by (perhaps) a side order of satisfying fried wantans.
Verdict: Although the Loh Shu Fun is their signature dish but to my dismay it didn’t meet my standard for a good bowl of noodles.
Claypot Chicken Rice has been one of my (Puri) favourite dishes of all time. It has a unique flavour, aroma and texture that can only derive from a claypot. In this episode, we head over to Restoran Veng Soon in PJ Old Town where they've been serving one of the best claypot chicken rice since 1977. The best way to enjoy this dish is by dining in and eating straight from the claypot itself.
This claypot chicken rice shop must be popular among those who who about it, full house at dinner hour. It specializes claypot chicken rice with vege/tofu/soup as add-ons.

At rm$6, quite a generous amount of 鸡丝 chicken slices (I think maybe some 猪肉片 pork meat slices too), 2 鱼丸 fish balls, a little bit of 猪油炸 pork lard plus some sprinkles of 炸蒜葱 fried onions/garlic and 葱 julienne chives on my bowl of flavorful broth with 河粉 hor fun.
The Bak Kut Teh soup was very flavourful. The herbal taste was very strong, the soup was on the saltier side but we did not feel thirsty
Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh is probably one of the better known BKT in the PJ area as leaving at 7pm+ on a Tuesday night, the place was already full!
Bak kut there here is similiar to those in Klang that serve in individual bowls. Soup here is not as thick as to compare those in Klang yet herbs taste here is mild enough to cater to many general taste bud. I still prefer mine to have strong herbs taste. Soup colour is slightly clear yet aromatic when lingers in your mouth. Generally, if you want a bowl of pippin hot Bak Kut Teh that need not drive far, this would be an ideal place.

We given the menu of sushi choices; blue - RM1.70 and red - RM2.70. My favorite sushi are Salmon Mentai and Egg Mayo. Everytime, I must choose Salmon Mentai when I went to any sushi restaurant because I fall love in the salmon so very much!
My Personal Opinion Among some of my favourites were the fish stuffed root (which I now know as sang kan yuen), fried sticky rice, siew mai, deep fried carrot cake, brinjal, stuffed beancurd puffs and steamed BBQ buns.
Dim Sum was good! Service was bad for an establishment which charges service tax.
Golden bun RM3.60 for 2 – I love this – the buns are filled with pumpkin and the juice will just ooze into your mouth with every bite –heavenly!
This seems to be a fusion cafe, combining local and western cuisine. Lei Cha (RM 16) is not bad, fragrant. Mee Jawa (RM 16) is tasty and fragrant, soft noodles and quite a few crunchy..
We’re suckers for pretty teapots – and the Lei Cha here is served in one. We loved it! We had ours with brown rice and added fried anchovies (RM20 in total) for more protein. The flavours were superb – the mint-basil soup is less minty than we are used to and is slightly more savoury.
Chunky pieces of chicken meat - well-grilled, charred and just enough fats. Good to eat on its own or dipped into the delicious peanut sauce for total enjoyment.
"I am craving for Satay la" my sister said last weekend. "Yeah, let's go to Kajang for the famous Sate Hj. Samuri!" I replied. "Nope, I am lazy to drive all the way to Kajang...." she answered, "Wait, I remembered there's one on the Kesas Highway, the RnR Awan Besar!" I chirped in. So off we go to this RnR Awan Besar to get our fix of local famous satay. This is the first time I went to this RnR Awan Besar after a fire broke out in the old building. It is now a new big clean building which was rebuilt after it has been burnt down.
Since moving to new company, met my ex colleague for lunch and she brought me to this Restoran Puchong Batu 14 Yong Tau Foo is well known for its made fresh upon ordering Yong Tau Foo. They also offer other quite simple dishes that I see many other diners ordered is their Steamed Fish, Chicken Wrap, Ginger Duck and Onion Tofu.
