The changes at Victor’s have been very minimum. They still served solid dim sum, with minimum fuss. I must say for the quality of the food, Victor still kept their price increase to the minimum. Definitely, a must-visit HK-style Dim Sum in Singapore. Cheers!!
Have a H.K. Summer Iced Milk Tea (S$3.20) along with your meal. The drink comes as a cup served in a bowl of ice so the drink doesn’t get diluted over time.

The Yaowarat folks have a small chain of Malaysian ban mian shops called Ng Kuan, and I stopped by an outlet for a late night top-up.
If you do visit, suggest the first 4 dishes and also many other tables had crab dishes on them, so might be good try too!

To me, Wing Seong reminds me of the family dinners I usually have with my family. The simple zhi char style is non-costly and heartwarming. If you're near bugis area, why not drop by and give the authentic cantonese cuisine a try?
Too bad that the food wasn't very edgy though. Sure, it was edible enough that we cleared it all, but the som tam and tom yum weren't spicy, while that goong ob woon sen wasn't nice and greasy like the Boat Quay dude's place. If there was anything Thai Gold Food didn't do well at, it was their iced tea. I'm actually surprised this was lacklustre. These days, it's not so difficult to find a better representative of this beverage as it was some years back.
The rice bowls that we had were not bad, but insufficient to warrant a second visit. However, I’ll make a trip here specially for the Gyocos and a taste of their unique Japanese butter bowls.
Nevertheless, the dishes we had were undoubtedly the beginnings of the must-haves here and would hopefully be signatures to stay.
To be honest, we actually found Kyodai’s food pretty decent — both dishes were actually not too bad especially at that price — their offerings might be appealing to the students in the area, considering the stall’s proximity to Singapore Management University (SMU) and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and also the office workers in the area.

I visited District Sushi without huge expectations and true enough, the food is decent value but not memorable.
It’s a place to swing by, for sure, because there’s also a range of sashimi, nigiri sushi, and more donburi to taste.
All in all, District Sushi is a hidden gem we would highly recommend to students studying at the campuses nearby or those who are on a budget. Their value-for-money donburis and nigiri sushi sets are definitely worth a try!
Eat3Cuts ought to be a popular place for roast meat and duck lovers in the upcoming months thanks to its affordable price and delicious meats.

Our search for good and affordable eateries led us to this discreet Japanese shop called Ichi Tei, which is located inside Sunshine Plaza. Ichi Tei’s set meals are less than S$14, which makes for a decent lunch or dinner.
Wan Wan Thai Cafe gave us some really enjoyable desserts which satisfied my sweet tooth without being too cloying.
There is now another reason to visit the under-the-radar Sunshine Plaza, be it to satisfy the craving for custard buns at Victor’s Kitchen, or to takeaway some hearty chicken pies over at Oven Marvel.
If you are schooling, working, or always in the area, these other Bencoolen food places make good options as well.
A humble, under-publicised shop of 300 Boru. If you are looking at something more polished, maybe they are still getting a hang of things, but could try if you are in the vicinity.

Cluck Cluck was average at best, as the portions were rather small and the flavours fell a little flat in some dishes.
If you are looking for a cosy place to catch up with your friends, without breaking the bank, The Glass Onion is a pretty decent option. I would definitely return for the Zesty Angel Hair Crab Pasta!
