Flavours of dishes were wholesomely delicious – our fried tenggiri slices were fresh, well-marinated, juicy and very tasty
Pretty good banana leaf rice which include Indian dessert.
The chicken curry … surprisingly, I liked it. I usually like my curries thick but here, it is a tad watery than what I am used to but it does not lack in flavor. The reason I do fancy thicker curries is because I like the gravies packed with flavors and in most cases, the watery versions are often diluted, muted down. So, when I tasted the curry here, I was surprised – it is a lil watery and yet it tasted like a curry I’d like.
We also ordered a mutton varuval (RM8) and chicken 65 (RM6). The mutton was tender and flavorful and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the chicken too.
All the four chutneys were awesome. They were so good that I had to ask for more and despite having such a crowd, they managed to serve me more. The vegetables were also very tasty and fresh. Good thing is that they were not overdone and the flavours were good. Both their Venthaya Kulambu and Chicken Kulambu was awesome as well. 9/10 for their Chutneys, 8/10 for their Veggies and 9/10 for both their Kulambu's.
Verdict All in all, Sri Ganapathi Mess’s was a super satisfying lunch and we trust you will most likely leave with a stuffed and happy tummy. At least our friends over Chasing A Plate felt that way. Prices here are slightly above the average banana leaf eatery but the taste of their food totally made up for it.
Rice + 4 Vegetables + Papadum, 6 ringgit, Chicken Varuval, 8 ringgit, Sura Puttu, 6 ringgit, Fish Cutlet, 5 ringgit = 25 ringgit. Loved every single ingredient on the leaf. Yum! The vegetable option for the day was spinach, cucumber, bittergourd and brinjal. Delicious. The chicken curry was da bomb. Spicy and thick, flavorful, guaranteed to tickle your tastebuds with every single mouth you take. The meats was awesome as well. Couldnt have asked for a better wholesome Indian lunch.
