Food was good, yawwww. Very good. The pork sausage + chicken + salted fish + rice = Da’ bomb! As you mix the rice, scooping the bottom, the crunchy slightly burnt part mix with the soft, moist part – a perfect combo. The chicken pieces came infused with a ‘kechuppy’ flavor and it literally falls of the bone, the pork sausage provided a sweetness that complimented the saltiness from the salted fish. Truly satisfying to mix it all up and having a taste, you’d get a burst of flavors.

Simply put, Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice is one of (if not) the best Claypot Chicken Rice in Kuala Lumpur. The claypot dishes here was perfectly cooked and taste quite delicious. The only downside of this restaurant is that it is cooked by foreigners as Madam Heun already passed down the skills to her workers.

Petai Fried Rice, 8.50 ringgit This Petai Fried Rice was delicious. Believe it or not, within 5 minutes after it arrived at our table, it was gone. We certainly ate through it like a hurricane. Oklah, maybe it was also because we were hungry but the fried rice sure tasted awesome. It looked simple but the flavors were good. There were quite a bit of those crunchy ‘petais’, the sambal/belacan taste was evident. The rice as a whole, had good sweet and spicy mix to it.

It was again a more than decent Japanese meal at a mall that's conveniently located near where we stay. If you go with a value-for-money dinner set, it'll make your meal here that much more affordable. It you're a small-eater and happen to be not too hungry, the beef teppanyaki set that I had could probably be shared since I had difficulty finishing the miso soup, eggplant and fried rice on my own. I'm certain I'll be back as it's now one of our 'go to' places for a wide selection of Japanese food that's good and reasonably priced.

The lunch didn’t disappoint us as expected. The food in De Maw Restaurant is still good and the quality is still maintained. Please take note that the waiting is long when the restaurant is packed but you can wait with a pot of hot Chinese tea. We heard many people complained about how pricey the food is in De Maw Restaurant but when you look at their menu, it is not that bad at all. In fact, we felt it is cheaper than most restaurants in the mall now. Like we mentioned earlier, please book your table in advance or take the risk if you plan to walk in. De Maw Restaurant is always top on our list and highly recommended.

Overall, it was a good lunch for us. Just hope that they would improve on their Spaghetti and Bolognese Quality and also try to serve their chicken hot or warm to the customer. We are paying RM 23+ for their food so of course I expect some better quality food right!!

I also bought a peanut butter, blueberry jam burger to try like I said I would. The menu price is MYR 19+ (6% SST = MYR 20.15 nett). Surprisingly, the blueberry jam goes well with the beef patty but the peanut butter gives out oil that felt like it could give me a sore throat so I don't think I will eat this burger again.

My Personal Opinion Even to this day, there's still a queue each time I pass by the outlet but, luckily, the wait for seats won't take too long as the noodles are served super fast. I think their noodles in superior soup is still their most successful and sought-after dish (especially if you're one who likes a light soup)...and that is what I'll stick with here from now on. ^_~

If you are in Canton Kitchen, one of the MUST TRY is their Ginger Wine Chicken Steam Bihun. The Fried Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk @ RM28.90 (for small, RM57.80 big, there's also a version with squid) besides boasting of a robust salted egg yolk flavour, with fragrant undertones from the fried curry leaves, also had a lot of inherent sweetness in it. The prawns, though few in numbers, were of a decent size...and were tasty enough, just wished the sauce wasn't as sweet.

I do have a favourite prawn mee in PJ which I've not gotten round to blogging about coz I've not had that prawn mee in quite a while. However, this is still a very decent prawn mee...but was it better than my favourite prawn mee in PJ? Hmmm....if I remember correctly, that one had a more intense prawn-flavoured broth but I won't commit until I've had a more recent tasting of that prawn mee to confirm that the quality is still as good as when I last tasted it.

Among the many prawn mee that I have tasted in the course of this search, I felt the one that I had at Restoran Xang Kee is worth recommending. This coffee shop is located in Taman Maluri, Cheras and some of the other popular food here include Western food and XO seafood noodle. In fact, the XO seafood noodle is a branch of Kepong’s.

I wasn't impressed with any of the desserts I tried here. In fact, I pretty much want to forget it altogether. You probably might not be sampling the same dessert platter since the choice of these 8 petite portions changes depending on what the chef puts out. For a cafe-hopping experience that is a bit out of the ordinary, Pretty on Plate offers that and more. As this is still the first week of operation for them I believe there would be ongoing changes. Service is welcoming and attentive. My concerns? 1. The price is a bit steep for the plated desserts; considering the portion served. While I understand that (1) quality ingredients are used, (2) every plate is prepared upon order similarly to a fine dining restaurant, (3) every component on the plate is painstakingly made (some via technologically advance methods), the average customer might not be able to fully appreciate such details. 2. The brioche wasn’t as rich (buttery) as its name suggested and I thought it might have tasted better warm; versus hard and cold. Now imagine a buttery warm brioche with cold ice cream.. mmmmmm… 3. Aaron had said there will be more desserts in the coming weeks and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the creation of some unconventional desserts; perhaps something of a signature that will set Pretty On Plate further apart from other cafes. No doubt the plated desserts concept is uncommon, but the 5 varieties offered centered around berries and chocolate (with the exception of key lime) which I thought was rather safe and universal. Loaded my plate with fried chicken, sambal sotong and mutton curry. All the dishes went well with the rice, which was creamy but subtle. I can see why the chicken is so popular – extremely flavourful (not just on the skin but on the inside as well), addictively crunchy on the outside whilst being tender and moist on the inside. The mutton curry was not gamey at all and not too spicy; while the sambal sotong had a nice sweet and savoury tang to it with just enough kick. Two plates cost us RM15, which is very reasonable imo considering its a meal in the city centre.

Verdict Overall there was simply nothing bad to say about Peel Road Nasi Lemak. It tastes much like the conventional nasi lemak but with a little porky twist. The variety of side dishes can be a little overwhelming and the prices are fair due to it being a road side stall.

For soup base, we order their signature : Butter Spicy Soup with 1 chili (which you can choose on your spicy level till level 3) @ RM 48, and Mushroom Yuen Yang @ RM 42. First timer, I would advise on level 1 spiciness level as it is quite different from others. If you think you can really take ma la spicinness then start off with level 2. I had mine in 2 chili. Loving it.
