In Singapore, Fatty Cheong at ABC Market is synonymous with "bu jian tian" 不见天 char siew to go with their egg noodles or plain rice.
There are 2 stalls by the same name in this food centre by the same owner, the original stall is to focus on roasted meat and the newer stal...
The char siew was nice.
By Chef Pang Kok Keong. Oily and fragrant, nicely cooked chewy noodles and umami meat filled yong tau foo.
Very soon, you will be able to enjoy grilled seafood at night as Hakka Pang will switch to a ‘seafood shack’ concept called Guppies. Expect a variety of grilled fish and seafood served with different dips.
Pang’s Hakka Noodles, Yong Tau Foo and Fishballs at The Sprout Hub (on the ground of the former Henderson Secondary School).
All in all, I will recommend this place for western food lovers for its pocket-friendly and value-for-money portion.
I was full of anticipation for their Chicken Chop after reading many raving reviews about them online.
MARCH 3, 2020 Recommended by Miss Tam Chiak. I’m not sure how I never noticed this stall with its seriously close to half an hour queue. Solid and deliberate slicing skills (刀工). Very nicely …
I am probably still too young to talk about nostalgia but our meal at New Market Teochew Braised Duck Rice was so satisfying!
My order came with a bowl of rice drenched with their lor and a portion of braised duck meat served separately on another plate with cucumber slices underneath.
While I thought well of their kailan stir fried with garlic, today's plate tasted a little diluted.
Obligatory greens of stir fried watercress with garlic. The flavour of their garlic stir fry was pretty good.
We filled the vegetable quota for the evening with kailan (芥兰) stir fried with garlic. Nice crunch from the savoury leafy greens. This was pretty good.
Two Char Kway Teow Stall in Bukit Merah Food Center. What’s your favourite?
This was manned by quite a friendly old couple, and you could really see the man go at it with the wok. You would arrive smelling the sweetness coming from the stall, and leave with smokiness in you mouth. Very nice.
The Malaysian Food Street RWS is very conveniently located. It is right at the middle of the open area which holds the fountains and next to the entrance to Universal Studios.
Tiong Bahru holds several food memories for me and I've found another reason to return.
We really wanted to give the Pulot Hitam ($4.50), a dessert of black glutinous rice pudding swirled with coconut milk, a fair shake, but this was watery and lackluster. This was the Hubs' favourite dessert but he actually declined a second mouthful.
All that talk about laksa yesterday reminded me that I still hadn't made my way over here yet (1 HarbourFront Walk #02-48, 9721-6560). The place was more upscale than I thought it would be, and the menu was more extensive than I had imagined too, featuring a number of creative little small plates that looked promising.
The Grilled Tiger Prawn Dry Laksa came in a really big portion, and was moist with quite a bit of concentrated laksa broth/sauce, lemak, had strong flavours of coconut milk and prawns, and came with nice sprinklings of tau pok and fish cake.
The texture and flavour is definitely different, and even though there could have been more wok hei, it’s still a pretty good plate of carrot cake. I’ll have it again if I’m in Bukit Merah!
Hi Makan Kakis! This week, we welcome a new Foodie Friend, whose Modern European restaurant on Dempsey Hill features lots of Asian touches and beautiful ceramics designed and created by the chef hi…
No doubt that the Hokkien Mee fits the basic criteria of a plate of traditional noodle, it is of a saltier side. Nonetheless, it does has its traits like a little "Wok Hei" flavours and those "Gu Zhao" taste with noodles soaking up the goodness from the stock.
But good news was, it tasted much better than it looked. Even though there was probably no lard in it.
Sessions also had a weekend dinner buffet on Fridays and Saturdays which features a selection of seafood, grilled meats and desserts. Highlights include Poached Prawns; Louisiana Seafood Gumbo; Grilled Salmon with Citrus Zest; Grilled Rib Eye Steak; Chicken and Chorizo Jambalaya Rice; Chili Crab with Mantou and Black Pepper Crab.
Well, one thing for sure, their soup was consistently quite lightweight. I would have liked a beefier flavour but I've nothing against this one.

The price tag is hefty, and let’s just say Curate is best reserved for special occasions or anniversaries. It is definitely a place to impress your date. Will Curate be the next Michelin Star Restaurant in Singapore? My guess is a yes.
The staff were very nice but some patience is needed especially during lunch time.
The view from Spuds and Aprons should be it’s highlight, and we wished the food could have been as good – perhaps to be fair, it is a casual dining concept, and it does have a couple of appetising choices.
it’s more convenient, carpark is huge & there are lots of parking space even at 12 noon lunch time. & the queue was not too long, just 4-5 people…
