Wok Hey is a small chain of kiosks that has expanded rapidly across the island over the past few years, and only recently did I finally stop to try it. It's an interesting setup: the name is a play on wok hei, or that wonderfully smoky aroma that one can get from a properly seasoned wok.
Service at Wok Hey is completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter.
Loved the Beef Tongue (SGD $10.80) with its meaty bouncy chew to texture, and light savoury flavour. This cooks rather quickly, and is a good way to start the meal.
I've only heard of Mooi Chin in the recent years though they've been around for decades. We're here today for that taste of nostalgia uncommon.
Mooi Chin Place Restaurant Menu contains quite an interesting mix of Hainanese Specialties, Western dishes (such as pasta and sandwiches) and regular Chinese restaurant items.
