we concluded the meal, relishing in yet another happy dining experience at Wine And Chef.
Very ordinary squid ink pasta – I couldn’t taste the uni in the sauce at all.
Our review of a restaurant with affordable wine - Wine & Chef in Keong Saik Road Singapore, with pictures of menu, food and the restaurant ...
The egg noodles did an outstanding job of taking in all of the gravy and the fried chicken cutlet was a nice compliment to that whole thing.
I have not been dining out much during this period for personal reasons. This pretty much explained why I have not been updating this blog. ...
The curry was lemak, sweet and thick; comforting and only slightly spicy. The noodles were springy and the chicken cutlet thick, crispy outside, juicy inside and flavourful (with five spices). I had finished this, immediately after finishing the char kway teow.
XYT had transformed our local dishes into innovative dishes, adding a special touch to each. Our overall experience was above average no doubt that the price was a bit steep. It will be good for some special occasion and if you are willing to splurge on our local delights with a twist.
The ambience is casual and probably an ideal place to hang out with friends to share the calories.
Xiao Ya Tou, or better known as XYT, is a modern Asian restaurant bar on Duxton Hill that serves up a plethora of playful and somewhat cheeky food and drink offerings—all of which find their inspirations stemming from cuisines from all across Southeast Asia.
Their food was a little less expensive and felt a little bit more down to earth than Candlenut.
Prices are reasonable at The Blue Ginger and it is good value Peranakan food in my opinion. It is worth a return trip for sure.
It is recommended to go in a group so you could order more dishes to try but please do remember to make a reservation before going. Hope you have an enjoyable meal like we did.
I was always kinda curious about this place.
I didn't like it enough to come back for it, but there were some duck-based items that sounded like they might be fun to wash down with all of the booze that they had available.
I’ve really got nothing positive to comment about the food at My Awesome Cafe. This visit has been ridiculously disappointing and it really spoilt my afternoon.
BOTAN is a good place to mix food and alcohol.
I can’t wait to find friends who love Japanese food so that I could be back to Botan Japanese Restaurant soon.
I wouldn’t specially crave for the Kaya toast from Tong Ah given that there are so many other convenient local chains which serve this dish. That said, if you are in the Keong Saik vicinity or having a staycation at Kesa House, this is one good and cheap local breakfast option.
来到牛车水,不妨来这里吃一个早餐,感受一下当地人的风土人情吧!
Tong Ah Eating House also serves Crispy Thin Toast Kaya, French Toast with Kaya and Steamed Bread with Kaya (S$4.90).
Overall, it was a good experience dining at Fu Lin Bar & Kitchen. The fried yong tofu is one of the best that we ever tried and their evening menu is well executed. The crispy pork belly, fresh whole squid and baby back ribs are a must-order. Cheers!!
Fu Lin Bar & Kitchen is easily accessible for those working in the CBD during lunch hours, but we would only recommend the dry version, accompanied by their signature noodles.
Fu Lin’s original stall is at Siglap, where they serve the same fare but in a non-air conditioned and more casual environment.
FIVE-TEN being run by kitchen wizards have recently taken to putting some new-fangled dishes to their solid menu including Steamed Live Lobster ($15) and Poached Cod in Soy Sauce ($15); fantastic for those who love affordable luxuries.
For some reasons, their tripe was served on skewers. These were the only things on skewers. But they were good.
Start small, which we did and will repeat the next round when we return. It gets crowded particularly during lunch time, so be there early or be prepared to queue.
Definitely one of a must try Nasi Padang in Singapore. Cheers!!
we had a really lovely dinner and of course rounded up with chendol.
The furniture and the flooring are very much the same, but the current food display seems to be smaller than the previous one. They still have the coin operated weighing scale!
The exterior was freshly made. Its soft, thin and chewy nature had shown a big difference as compared to those machine-made ones.
Between the two, somehow the Popiah was more satisfying, perhaps due to the skin and fuller fillings.
The freshly made popiah skin was very thin and light. The skin did not become soggy or break easily.
It is a good place to bring the whole family or friends to enjoy some delicious and healthy desserts as one will sure find something to suit his/her liking from the variety of the menu.
Almond paste and black sesame paste had never tasted so good. Each flavour was rich and robust but not overly sweet.
The desserts here was rather good, I would gladly return to try more dishes especially the snow ice ones. This place is a self-service eatery, please check the menu and place order at the cashier and wait for the desserts to be served at the table.
Worth many revisits just for the laksa else it is great to soak in the atmosphere and be artistic.
Overall, the Telok Ayer area is always an interesting place to visit for both locals and tourists.
The cafe is decorated in traditional Peranakan design, from the intricate, colorful tiles to the tableware.
Overall, Essen at the Pinnacle turned out to be an interesting place to have lunch. The variety and quality of food is good. The atmosphere is relaxed and the drinks list very interesting.
Ambience at the Flying Squirrel was nice and cozy.
The raw fish was fresh and firm in texture, bouncing ever so gently upon teeth's clamp. We enjoyed our palatable lunch greatly and would be happy to return for more.
The lor mee came in a nice braising sauce, not overly deep, but sufficiently flavoured. It was full of various crispy bits like the shark meat, ngoh hiong which was also hard and crispy, and pure flour bits.
The gravy, or lor, is not too starchy nor too watery. Taste wise, it is not as robust as I would like it to be. In fact, it taste quite light to me.
I am a big fan of those big chunks of fried shark fish nuggets even though it was not freshly fried but it was particularly tasty when soaked it with the braising sauce. Nonetheless, that simple taste has always been my comfort food.
Burma Social is more of a lifestyle dining destination, which offers a glimpse of Burmese cuisine for me as I have never been to Burma myself before. The dishes are interesting in that sense with presentation of some dishes I had which I have not come across before. Bring an open mind along if you decide to head here.
I’m definitely a fan of Ah Heng Curry Chicken Bee Hoon and can see why they’re in the MICHELIN guide because they sure as heck deserve it. Be prepared to join the long lines that start building up around lunchtime, though!
The meat texture on the other hand was smooth and juicy. It lends a pleasant sweetness despite being soaked in the curry and not having the curry taste overpowering it.
The soft and fluffy Honey Cake is paired with sour cream ganache, blood orange, rose crystals and refreshing yoghurt sorbet.
The Nomads experience was perfect, except that families with young children may have to leave your little tots at home.
Despite each serving is rather like bite-size, it was very filling. It was quite an insightful dining experience here as this is my first time trying the cuisine along the Silk Road.
Despite the portion of the rice is not as much as one coming from the Indian stall, or the smaller-sized chicken leg in comparison but for the price ($4), it is good value.
Although there are only two items on the menu, uncle Bobby has indeed carved out a niche in this area.
